MOVIT brakes, with Custom CALLAWAY logo

Luigi, here is the C36 brakes and caliper - VERY nice part - but the Alcon's don't seem to be compatible w/ the C4's :(

Nice looking brakes but there is one MAJOR issue with ALCON rotors. Notice how the half moon shaped slot is close to the outer edge of the rotor. They've been known to crack then split in that area. I have picture of the outcome of having one crack while driving. Let me see if I can find it. The other issue is with there pads and I have pictures of that too.

Actually, I was referring to the calipers from the first picture which are red. I thought it would be nice to see blue calipers with silver "callaway" lettering. Somehow, I thought that the C36 corvette had that look. The hat is not very visible behind the wheel and black would work for me.

Also, having them orderable from CT would "legitimize" them. The Twin Turbo Owners need a better braking system than the stock J55 brakes and going through Callaway would make me feel that I doing right for the car.

:cool

He can paint the caliper ANY color. He can color match the caliper to the color of your car. All he needs is a paint sample. 2x2inch i think.

I talked to MOVIT today about shopviews package for his Aerobody 1996 car. They said they can put the logo on the side IF they have permission from callaway. The C9 callaway pictured in my first post in this thread was sent BY callaway germany TO movit to have that system installed. The brake system on the C9 is the same system I have on my car without the callaway logo of course! :)

I talked to chris today, over the phone, and ask him if it would be possible to get permission from callaway. He said he would talk to them in person in a few days. My suggestion is for chris to suggest a limit authorization to C4 owners only with Callaway so MOVIT won't compete with Callaway’s current line of Alcon packages sold for C5 and C6. Chris said Callaway doesn;’t sell big brake package for C4 corvettes anymore. Apparently they can't get the hats from Brembo. I had the same problem with my stillen/brembo setup. Brembo stop making parts for that setup and I had to order parts from Stoptech.

Rob, do you know the circumstances behind the failed rotor?? :confused

I know Callaway Cars did a LOT of durability testing after working with the engineers to make the components you see in the pic - the c-shaped relief pockets cast in, provide greater resistance to fade and more consistent stopping during hard use.
Callaway claims that the reliefs don’t propagate cracks like cross-drilled rotors :cool

here you go. Blue C5 with color match blue caliper. 4 piston

He can do almost any color. Hot pink for example!! :D I think that would look good on a vette!

I found pictures of the rotor when I was researching brake packages for my C4 before I bought the MOVIT system. Let me see if I can find it. The pad issue I can get you more info on since that particular issue happened to a member of the german american corvette club. one more thing. It's my personal feeling that slots or cuts in the rotor are total waste of time. Why, because the slots fill with pad material in under 60 miles and render them useless. You can do a search on drill vs slotted rotors and you will find many people that share my feelings. That’s why MOVIT doesn’t sell a slotted rotor. I had slotted brembo rotors and I hated them. I had rusted slots filled with rusting pad material. Looked like crap.

Ok here is the picture of the Alcon caliper with pad failure. this caliper was installed on a C5 Z06 in Germany. If you look at the pad you can see that the pad material broke away from the backing plate. The reason for the failure is Alcon positioned the slots in the pad directly over the pistons and when the brakes are applied the backing plate flexes and caused the pad material to come off. The slots, don't know the technical term, should be placed between the pistons not directly over the piston.

Still looking for the picture of rotor.

Ouch!...

The blue "Motiv" caliper pictured with the blue C5 with white or silver "Callaway" lettering would be right on the money for my C4. Lets hope Chris can get them to buy off on the concept - & I'm in!..

If they don't you could always go blank or put "TurboLuigi" on the side! :)

MOVIT just finished making these calipers for a C4 owner.

Front and rear billet calipers.

The front billet caliper is a newer version of the caliper i have my car. Little lighter and easier to remove/install pads.

Very Nice... :upthumbs

I am really looking forward to a Callaway sanctioned & branded logo caliper like the one you posted before and supported and made available through their normal channels so I can order a suitable upgrade for my car.
