Muffler question?

If they are the original mufflers they are clamped with a U-bolt to the pipe and have a bolt up and inbetween the two pipes comming out. If you want to take them off.......get a cutting tool. Where they are clamped you'll have to make 2+ relief cuts and do some prying to get them off.

Yeah they are a real PITA, just be patient and they will come off though, might need some spray lubricant.

when I put my muffler elim's on is it ok to bolt back on with u-bolts? or should they be welded?

you can do either but it's much easier to cut and weld. If you dont know anyone that can do that the local muffler shop should only charge you aprox. $30 to do it. In and out in 1/2 an hour and it beats lying on your back all Saturday afternoon fighting with a 19 year old pipe.

As someone on another forum said "Sawzall solves all!"

YES, just use the u-bolts and the single bolt near the rear of the car. There is NO need to weld the muffler elim's on.
