Muncie 4spd: rebuild myself or????

Ok, the girl is almost done. Just about ready to drop the boat anchor back into the engine bay. I have a new rebuild kit for my Muncie 4 spd on the bench. It includes the usual as well as a new countershaft. Should I:
A) Rebuild it myself. First time. But knowledgeable enough with a good manual.

B) Spend another (and I do stress ANOTHER, tell that to my fiance' again) $200 and have the local tranny shop rebuild it.

what have you guys all done?

I had a 4spped muncie and i let my local aamco shop rebuild it. they charged like 700 or something like that, but i see u have the kit so it sounds like one hell of a deal. I would let them do it. less headache on you!

FYI The best manual trans shop there is ... www.texracing.com ... in North Carolina ... many top NASCAR & sports car teams rely on them. Tex completely rebuilt & upgraded the T10 in our circle track car for $700 total.

I hope that you trust the shop. I can't remember who it was but someone here had a horror story about having their Muncie rebuilt by a shop. The shop told him that it would take a while so the shop gave him a loaner trany in the interim. Long story short, the Muncie "dissappeared".

I recall a thread about that SNAFU. That's a real good headsup from brusso ... keep tabs on your original trans.
