This is my first post,I joined the action center yesterday, and looking forward to talking to fellow Vette owners.I have a 010 C6 6.2 Coupe,Machine Silver,my baby.My other baby, was a 57 Vette that dad bought me for graduation in 67.That car is really the meat of this post. I had the car threw college.then a marriage and a son was on the way.A Vette is not exactly a family car.So I took the car back home on Table Rock Lake in Missouri,Dad then sold the car.It went to a little spot in the road called Lampi,MO.That was in 70-71.OK,now I am hell-bent to find this 57 Vette,my first baby.I know I am shooting in the dark on this but does anyone, know of a 57 from that area.I know this sounds crazy but I have got to try.PLEASE HELP.JD

Welcome to the party.....if you come across a triple tan 63 roadster while you are looking for yours let me know...I'd like to have it back also.....good luck in your quest....

Call the police department in the town. Who would know better about a Vette - they do get a lot of attention in a small venue. You might get lucky. You could even ask to be put in contact with a retired cop who was around in that time period. Explain your situationj. They might want to help.

Lampi is small and unincorporated, so call Stone County.

Catbert, thanks for the get back.Yes Lampi is just a community,Kimberling City,MO,just north of Lampi has a police force,I have contacted them,no luck, they sent me to the only business in Lampi,Ha Bob's,a convenience store,no luck.So yesterday I printed a form from Kansas DMV requesting my dad's registration info where the car was originally registered in Leawood,KS in 67.That registration should have the VIN #,with the VIN# I should be able to narrow the search.Yes or No.Let me know.

Great story!! Please keep us all updated.

You have any old paperwork on it that would allow you to run a title search?

Bob,I contacted Topeka,KS DMV registration,Leawood ,KS was where I lived and where the car was registered.Printed the form they showed for registration history on the car, filled it out,and sent a $10.00 fee,did this yesterday. Now,what I need the most is the VIN# which will be on the registration, that will or should speed this search up,WE WILL SEE.Thanks for the help.I will keep everyone updated .

Welcome to the CAC

Great story. When I first saw the thread I thought you were a friend of mine from high school finally registering on the site. He too graduated in '67 but his dad bought his '57 for him when he was 15. He lives in Texas now and still has it.

When you get the VIN check with the C1 registry to see if it is listed. Also Roy Sinor, National Judging Chairman with the NCRS, can tell you if it has ever been judged. That could lead you to the owner

Thanks Tom for the comment and advice on C1 Registry.I am hopping to receive copies of registration with VIN# next week.I don't know how long Topeka,KS DMV will take, hopefully not long.I am hell-bent and sent on finding my 57.I will keep everyone updated if anything breaks. Thanks to everyone on this site with the kind words.

Thanks Bill, love this site, having a blast. You know, you are wright,no one would trash a classic.I have been wondering if and when or where I find it,what state of condition would it be in,I keep thinking in a barn covered up for 20 yrs,or destroyed,or in some ones collection.Hopefully I receive my original registration with the VIN# on it this week,I hope Topeka doesn't set on this, really pumped on where this takes me.You gave me a little better positive attitude.:thumb

EXCITING FOR SURE . . . . . . . The hunt iss on.

I am excited for you, the hunt is on. You will keep us posted I hope. A 1957 Classic is not going to be cheap no matter what kind of condition she's in. . . . . Maybe it's waiting for you to rescue it :happyanim:

Catbert, here in the office this AM,just looking through first post, saw your quote thought I would let you know what I found on your suggestion.I did call Stone Co.and they sent me to West Branson DMV,that's where the buyer would have to go to register.Talked to a superviser about the method to my madness, was told they could not give out personal info,so close, just keep getting the door slammed. The closest law inforcement is in Kimberlig City,MO,where the car was sold,I did talk to them when I first started this, they sent me to the local convenience store there in Lampie and talk to Bob,he knows everyone, well guess what Mr Bob passed away in June.Door slam again. So I think I will call Kimberling police again and see if they would know anyone else.FROSTRATION LEVEL MACH 2.So what do you think.
