The shifter is just a hair over 7" from plate to top of knob. Just installed the boot fits well and covers the bolts fine but it doesn't fit concave like a stock one would. I'll let you know how it wears. It has a very short throw so I think it will be okay.

I can probably live with that. Keep me posted. Thanks, Jim

Hi! Gary

Yes I still have the original frame and I can use it to transfer measurements from, but with all the rust that was in that frame I was wondering if I would be better off starting from scratch and trying to shim to the body lines. What do you think?

Ray
Ray as you know I'm not an expert but I can tell you that I had no problem re-shiming the 61 from scratch as I foolishly didn't think to record how it was shimed originally. However I had a new rear cross member welded in and it took more shims than all the other (9?) mounting points. I measured the frame (rolling chassis) to the ground (concrete floor) at the outer points on both sides just before the body drop. Both sides were symmetrical to less than 1/8" tolerance. I then dropped the body and measured to body lines near the mount points on both sides and shimed as necessary to keep the same tolerance. I also carefully watched my door gaps and made sure they were good as I tightened the mounting bolts.

Anyone interested in obtaining some additional information on the " Lizardskin " product can refer to the latest " Street Rodder Magazine " in the November 05 issue on page 180.

A rather complete " how to " along with tech details that I did not go into.
