that I got on a trade for my 02 auto.

I've ordered the Hurst short shifter and look forward to installing it.

Anyone done this change over and have any tips or thoughts for me?

I do, of course, have the install instructions. I'm a competent mechanic looking for tips and tricks. :beer

Thanks up front folks.

Jim

I installed this shifter on my Z16/Z06 in the spring. Easy as falling off a log!! The only caution I will mention is to make sure to remove the aux. shift stops instead of just loctiting them in place. Mine vibrated loose and locked out my 1,3,5, and rev!! The caution about them is in the instructions but not until after the procedure is complete! Good luck, the difference is WELL WORTH the time and investment.:thumb

Hey Jim,

Many thanks for that tip. I don't see the 'auxiliary shift stops' mentioned.

Can you elaborate?

Thanks a bunch,

Jim

Got the deal on the aux shift stops. Right there in the instructions as stated. Thanks.

It's here, two days from Jegs. What great service.

Enjoy the precise feel of the Hurst, it really does make a huge difference.

Well JRose, that's the thing.

It's IDENTICAL to my 'old' car 'cept for the 6 speed.

Man do I LOVE this shifter. Why didn't you guys and gals tell me to get one before this?

Jeesh, my buddies. ;shrug

Now, I wound up going with just the 'soft' outer spring on the gate tension. The two were WAY too stiff when you factor in the tensions that are built in to the gearbox.

BUT, what a super deal.

THAT is when I did the HVAC fix that AJ told me about in the other thread. Talk about two ornithopters with one projectile. :upthumbs

Welcome to the world of 6 speeds. IMO it's the only way to go on a Corvette.
