was last night your first kill in the '62?

No Barry

It seems to atract nuts,Most time a tap of the gas and folks seeing smoke poor out of the wheel wells is enough.

My 66 is out of steam up when you get into the triple digits,it will get into the triple digits from a stop real quick,But it not a secure feeling at high speeds.

The 62 on the highway with just a little gas will pull real hard up into the triple digits with just a little throttle.I thought my C5 was set up for highway cruising, but the 62 you just have to breathe on it and your flying.and its real stable and secure feeling, I dont want folks to think I am reckless I am just trying to better under the car.Knowing the red line on the 62 is 5300 rpm,I was doing 130 mph and the tach was at 3200 rpms (in my 66 3100 to 3200 rpms = about 60 to 65 mph) I would think this car will easly do 160 mphs.

I met a cobra guy who has a car that is only 2300lbs with a weber injected 427 with about 700 hp and he is able to get traction with these good year (non dot aproved tires) that are real sticky, allthough his tires are giant,he explained they probably have something simular to my tire size.I let some air out of the tires and that helped a tiny bit.

I do have to say next car I build will have a 5 or a 6 speed in it though to better control the shift points. As I said before this trans is always shifting before the motor is up into its power band .the over drive is great in the trans. I took the 66 to gas it up the other day and I would be trying to shift out of 4th gear think I was in secound because the rpms are so loud.

Well I have said enough as I am starting to sound like a bragert whitch I am not. I am very pleased with the car and its performance. I hope this doent come off the wrong way but every one should drive a performance bigblock car. the pull is just assume.

I know some of you guys met my family at carllse, and my Daughter who is only 10 years old is the one who runs to the car to drive with me. She says she loves it.My son always jumps in with his mom as he said the car is too noisey and he cant hear the stereo.

Lastly.I worked so hard on the bottom of the car with polishing, and getting every thing pefect when I built the car. I mean I used to tape off the painted sections of the frame when working near them so I wouldnt scatch the paint. I actually did body work on the under side of the car so it looked good. None of this is ever visable. the car sits too low and no one can see any of it. I know its there but I built this car as a cruiser and boy it gets real dirty real quick and I cant get into every nook and cranny after each drive to clean it all.
So I guess what I am saying if you building tupe framed car as a show car polish it all ,if your building it as a cruiser save your resources.

Larry

we know you aren't bragging (although you have every right to with that car!)
That was a great report on how the car drives.

I agree with you on everyone should drive a performance BB car - I never have, not even once yet, but I'm hoping to be able to at sometime just so I can see what they are like. The feeling of all that torque must be incedible!

.................. My daughter called over to me (Over her Greenday CD) and said

"Smoke these chumps" and we did.

Brings tears to your eyes doesn't it? :D One day she'll be driving the vette and look over to Dad or Mom in the passenger seat and ask "Smoke these chumps?" and the answer will be proud and clear "Smoke em baby!". She really seems to enjoy the vettes as much as Dad and Mom. Bravo!!!!:upthumbs . What a fun time together!
