none right now :(
This is my new 'vette. 1966, 4 speed, side pipes, numbers matching engine is on a stand... currently has a 1995 LT1 in it.

Anyone have problems with the A/C knob? Mine seems stuck. I assume it pulls out to be on, push in for off? The prior owner didn't know anything about Corvettes, put 3k miles on it in 5 years, and didn't even know it had A/C. It wasn't even in the ad, I went to see the car and I'm asking... uhh, it's got A/C?

so it seems it should just pull in / out like the others do but not turn. Mine is stuck in one position and the bezel is loose. hmm. It would be really nice to find out that the only thing broken on the AC is the switch itself

Mines not an A/C car

So not sure if this helps....
The left knob is the fan speed.. and I believe pull out for heat.
The right one is floor or defrost ( doesn't turn ).
I guess the question is... can you get the compressor to turn on ?

My right one is labeled AC. There is another below the steering wheel, I think, that does the floor and defrost. I just played with it and got it moving in and out again. The car is jacked up, half way through a caliper change, so we will see tomorrow if it kicks on!

More Pics... Ac Switch, etc :)

Sweet car! I really wanted a 66 A/C roadster, but could not afford mid years. Keep us posted on the work you do. And post some more pictures.

That's one sweet ride. Congrats on the new purchase.

Tom

not sure on factory or not... there is a compressor on the original 327 and another installed (probably because the belts didn't match and the refrigerant was expensive/hard to find). what is installed seems like a version of the vintage air setup. However, the temp control isn't separate I don't think. I think temp is the top left knob in the dash. the vintage air setup says it should be a separate knob and the factory one doesn't get used. So maybe I have some sort of hybrid. That should make it interesting to troubleshoot :ugh

The " factory " AC cars had 6 knobs
2 for radio
2 for the heater ( like yours N mine )
2 above ( not sure of function )
AND a center vent above the clock

LOL

send a pix of the pass side of the firewall

Ok, I see now. I drove around some yesterday after I finished the brakes and inspected some more. Rain was coming so I had to park it. I noticed the compressor main wire is unplugged at the compressor so either it was stuck on because of the switch or it's broken. I would have messed with it in the garage but it's a bit on the loud side to be running in the garage ;) I'll poke around more tonight and take a pic of the firewall. I was more concerned with doing a once over on all the rest of the car to be sure I'm safe and legal driving...

My list of things to do:
-Passenger door interior handle doesn't open the door
-Parking brake is not functional
-Clock second hand works but minute and hour doesn't
-Tach doesn't work
-Antenna works but doesn't go all the way down... but after looking at pics it could be designed this way.

Everything else on the car works great. runs great, shifts great, doesn't overheat, etc. The only surprise that I didn't catch during the pre buy inspection is the parking brake. This shouldn't surprise me because I don't think I have ever had a corvette with a working parking brake. It's like I have some sort of parking brake curse.;LOL

Or

All the freon is out and the low pressure switch isn't working.....

The clock has nylon drive gears.. which IF original are missing lots of teeth..
I'll bet you cant set time by pulling out the knob either...I did the Ebay 80 buck quartz conversion

There is only 1 OH BY THE WAY with that kit.. the grommets that hold the clock body need to be reversed.

Tach CAN'T work since there is no mechanical conventional distributor...

So it's either a radical new mechanical design OR an electronic tach stuffed in the old tach shell...

Door should be easy once the panel is off

E brakes... that will be a chore

I can feel the clock gears, and lack of gear teeth, when trying to set the clock. I was just looking at the quartz conversions after doing some research. It's low on the list so maybe next month on this after the rest of the odds and ends are fixed.

Tach makes sense. hmmm... I did find this: Cable X...Electronic Speed Signal to Mechanical Speedometer Adapter

Not sure $$$$ on it though. Found other guys changing the guts out.

Hmmm interesting

Might want to call them to see if it can be adapted to a TACH drive... right now it's a speedo conversion and I would think the balistics would be a bit on the SLOW side...

Any word on the AC?

I figured out the compressor is shot. Gotta order a new one, or take it to a specialist. It's full of refrigerant so it probably makes sense to let someone else change it.

What's the deal on the compressor?

Center hub won't turn by hand ?
