See you there Friday and Saturday! :)
John - have fun at HBBIV! I'll be at Old Town starting Tuesday afternoon with final preparations. Thursday is my CPA day (and maybe Friday am - just as you get started on your fun stuff). I'm sure Ed will find more for me to do...

Hmmm. I can't seem to get my signature to show up. The box is checked and it shows up in preview but.......

Had an email with a couple of questions that I thought could be posted here as it helps new members get a sense of the Winter show.

? How involved are you with the show?

I help a little.

? My NCRS member number is xxxx, my car will never be judged, But I have always wanted to attend the seminars at the show. Can anybody off the street go to a seminar or do I have to register as a member to attend?
?

No. The seminars require NCRS membership and registration.

? I have been going since it was held at the Hyatt but I have never learned what to do. I usually just cruise the swap area, watch the auction, watch the judging (it was so nice inside the Hyatt), and take pictures of correct cars so when I refurb my 64 I will have better knowledge. Can you lead me in the right direction?
?

The Winter NCRS Regional meet is unique. Most NCRS events are closed door events restricted to members. Many years ago we added corvette venders and allowed the public access to the judging field. It has become a mainstay of this event. Any event takes money to make it happen. Usually the registration fees are what pays for the meet so some shows are very strict on being registered to do/see anything connectd with the event. We are fortunate we can use vender fees to help make the show happen, as a result the one day visitor can come and enjoy the cars without having to register. We only ask that you take the time to tell your board representitive how much you appreciate how we have structured the event.

I have to agree our meet causes some confusion to the first time NCRS member. We have tried many things, some worked, some did not. In reality we have colocated 4 events. An NCRS event, Mecum Auction, a swap meet and an independent coevette show on Sunday.

The NCRS events are usually Thur-Sat. Our strongest NCRS activity centers on judging the car. We have judging classes of one type or another on each day. Our actual car judges are some of the best as we get quality cars to be judged and have some of the better tabulation/support volunteers. This also causes some problems for the new judge as it is difficult to get selected for a team. There is a provision for what is called Observer Judging, this allows any member to select a specific team and watch/help the judging process. If you only come on Saturday you miss most of what are NCRS activities. As an NCRS member interested in 'doing' the event:

1. Come on Thurs get checked in see what/when/where any schools are and get signed up.
2. Thurs afternoon is car setup day and gives you a chance to see the cars up close as they come in.
3. Thurs nite is the reception.
4. Friday is judging day, you get to watch just how the judging manuals are applied to the cars.
5. Saturday. Usually some judging and the Awards Banquet in the evening.

The added benefit of our show is you have the swap meet and for sale corral to fill in down times. On Saturday you get to see a whole lot of driver cars and steal some ideas for your car.

2006 dates are January 26-29. Mrs Zippy and I plan to drive to Kissimmee from Howell, MI.
Anyone else going?

fly down from Baltimore on the 25th and back home on the 29th

bought my tickets through CHEAP TICKETS for AIR TRAN - from Baltimore to Orlando for $176.00

...one rental car place IS sold OUT! :smash:
Said there was a convention or something in town for the week(end) :crazy

Anyways, got a car, all they had was a C5 vert for the same price as the Chevy Aveo - should I have gotten a conf.#?? :ugh

I will be there. Leaving Friday morning from Fayetteville, NC and staying with an Uncle in Tampa.

I went to the show 3 times while I was stationed in Tampa and the show was at Cypress Gardens. The swap meet is certainly worth the time to go to the show and seeing all of the other cars that are driven to the show is great too.

I highly recommend taking a camera with you lots of nice Vettes to see.

If you see a yellow C5 with North Carolina plate that reads 6 SPD that would be my car.

Any info on the 2007 event?

It will be 1/18/07- 1/21/07. I have not registered yet but will soon. I still have not decided whether to go for P.V. or Flight judging. TLS

2 weeks from now the winter regional will be nothing more than history.. I have registered and gotten my paper work back.I went for flight..

Great show, great weather, great people = a great week-end. A big thanks to all the people that put this show on .And all the judges and every one else who helped. Again GREAT SHOW!!
