I just removed the body from the frame on my 1979 vette. After inspecting everything I noticed how the two middle body mount brackets #2 & #3 are setup.
The bracket seemd to be welded everywhere and I can't get the old nut out.
What I need to know is the correct procedure on changing the old nuts on these mounts.
I've attached a picture to show you whcih mount and what it looks like.

If anybody can help me on this I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Craig

I can't answer your question, but how was it pulling off the body?
Hard...Not so bad???

First thing I would do is go to a dealer and find out what is available for those nuts (do they come bracket and all?)Depending on how they come from the dealer..... those very well may have to be torch cut and re welded back on to the frame.

That is where I would start and then base my game plan.

You are going to have to drill/grind the factory welds loose and pop that whole upper tab off. You can then weld a new cage nut housing back in, and weld the upper body back into place.

Paragon and others sell the actual cage nut assembly.

I was pretty sure there was only one way to do this replacing the mount with the nut sounds like a small challenge.

I will be updating my web site as I go along with the restoration,

You can check it out!

Thanks for the help.

Craig
