Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Need some opinions please

You're getting into this pretty heavy. Welcome to the Corvette Fever!!!

There must be someone you've talked to in person that is somewhat Corvette savy. Hook up with a local Corvette Club. Have them go with you...not as a decision maker, but ONLY as a guide. Most Corvette owners will gladly help you along with this.

Yeah I drove a 76 Stingray yesterday and the 82. The ride was smooth and I have never felt like a car fit me as much as this. I felt like I was home when I sat in them. Great feeling.

As far as the options, Im looking for power windows locks and such.

The 76 Stingray had a lot of issues with it, rusted out floor burnt oil so bad i could smell it in the cab. Wipers didn't work, couldn't even feel anything blowing out from the so called air, and the lights wouldn't go down. If they would have budged from the 8 grand I might have considered it, but they wouldn't go down so I said no thank you.

The 82 ran a little rough, very little frame rust, no engine leaks, and all the power convenience worked. Didn't check the air as I had the t-tops off. The interior was in pretty rough shape, and the exhaust had holes in it. I priced out what I would replace and it wasn't to bad. The body had about 20 areas that looked like chips out of it. Only one part was something that could be seen. The rest was really only noticeable up close. Still waiting but needed to see how a few drove to make sure it was even going to be a good fit for me.

How could you not get the fever!

I don't think you'd want that particular car at any price. Restoration 'enthusiasts' might be willing to go maybe 2 grand for a car in that condition and be ready for a full frame off.

Keep looking. :upthumbs

Keep up the search, the right one will come. I got my 1980 in Jan of this year and love it! She spoke to me when I first saw her, and in my head I knew this was the one.

I have a C3, original owner, and they are nice rides if they are taken care of properly. Another good idea would be to attend a Corvette show that might be happening in your home area. Talk to some of the owners and see what looks "right" and what doesn't. Also, some of these shows have cars for sale which you can look at and get an up close look at to see what you like and don't like. Swapping interiors is very expensive. Just my opinion. As for the 3 cars you shown us, I wouldn't buy any of them. I don't like modified Corvettes. Again, just my opinion, don't "flame me"!

nothing wrong with a modded car if its done correctly.Id stay away from the used car dealers trying to sell a vette. The C2 and C3 vettes were not the most easy generations to work on no less be repaired correctly by some shady used car lot.Look at alot of vettes and take notes so to have something to compare to. Also drive the car mutiple times if your interested in it so you dont miss anything. And yes take someone along who knows these cars well, that alone can save you many headaches.
