folks
I just checked a website for corvette central and they have the white soft top for $2089...!!!! -- is that right ? -- i just need the material not the frame or assembly -- that seems outrageously high dollars ---

also what are the correct wheels for this 65 -- i don't want repro ko's -- i would like the stock correct wheel and wheel covers -- i love that look

what are the wheels and what should I expect to pay?

thanks sean

If it's $2089 it's the whole enchilada, top and frame. Hell, even $208.90 sounds a bit high for the top only....

hey buddy, welcome to our hell :D

ok, it's not hell, but forums like this are key - surely you will hear where folks have been buying the tops from (it's on my "big list")

as for the Knock Offs (we call them KOs for short) - you are going to need 5 KO wheels, 4 spinners, cones, and hubs (ok, some folks don't get the KO for the spare, but I would rec you do so.) These are sold as packages.

This brings up another valuable point - where to buy parts - and many opinions exist. you can even locate some old threads here and on Corvetteforum where folks kinda vote on who the use. Me, I get most of the little stuff from Long Island Corvette. They even sell the KOs - I am not sure if you mean you want real KOs and not bolt on but look like KOs - if you do want KOs, LIC show a price of $1550 (last year's price, might be higher now) for a set for a 65 (that includes everything you need but the spare). http://www.licorvette.com/ My other source is Paragon, and they show the set for a 65 at $1750 http://www.corvette-paragon.com/catalog/Product.aspx?id=22D87F86-43A9-465C-BD4E-D0485FBAC44A KOs were an option in 65, the standard wheel was a steel job with a very nice looking hubcap that looks a bit like a knock off. Getting a set of the wheels and the correct hub caps (they are now made in correct repro) will also be $$, but you could sell the Torque Thrusts on there now to offset the cost.

oh, and now prepare for the "ohmyGodtheKOwheelswillfalloffandkillyourbrother!" posts, folks cannot help themselves on this topic, for some reason

Al knoch for the top,

I purchase just about all of my parts from paragon reproduction. I have done 2 cars with them and cant say enough good things about them. tell them your doing a car and they have a stick with us program that gives you a discount on your future orders. it does have a minimum first order but just take your time and compile a list and youll have the minimum order in no time. You can order your top thru paragon as Al Knoch is there supplier.

I have have 2 mid years and have had many in the past. I have tried all the companies. For mid years Long Island Corvette is key. Paragon is good, as well as Corvette Central. But Lond Island strictly deals with 1963-67 cars. they all have there highs and lows. good Luck.
