neutral safety switch wiring test

is there a way to test the neutral safet/backup light switch.

it will only start in P or N (TH400) but the backups lights still wont come on.

when i pulled the cover from the front to the back
is purple wire, purple wire, green wire, red wire,

the red wire is hot as soon as i turn the key on,

never mind
i took a chance
and jumped the red and green and the reverse lights came on.
i disassembled the switch and bent the metal tabs out. the little plastic switch was just wore down,

works great now.
