1990 Comp. yellow coupe R9G
Hey everybody. Name is Rick. Live in Cali. Just purchased a 1990 comp. yellow ZF 6 speed with 23k miles. Having a BLAST;LOL. Drove to Reno last weekend to check her out and the dam car is practically brand new. She performed flawlessly. Car is RPO R9G. Is this rare? Do I park her and not drive? Can't find too much on internet. Thanks

Welcome to the CAC, Rick! And congrats on finding such a sweet, low mileage C4! :thumb

Looks like there were 278 Corvettes in Competition Yellow that year. Interesting, I can't find the RPO R9G listed anywhere.

According to the info on that webpage, it looks as though your 1990 R9G Competition Yellow coupe was 1 of only 5 produced, specifically for racing in the SCCA Challenge Series. I'd say that's why the previous owner(s) have kept the mileage so low.

I'm curious... the seller you bought the Vette from didn't tell you that?

Purchased from a Ford dealer. They said the Vette owner traded this in on a new Mustang?? They had a build sheet. I don't think they knew what the code represents if anything. I did research the R9G code before buying. Been trying to sell a truck I had because moving to Cali from Oregon, I had to get it smogged, which it would have failed (ie.. not street legal). Dealer took truck in and cash and here I have this R9G.

I believe all Vettes are cool. You definitely have one that is a little cooler than a lot of others! :upthumbs

I think Vettes were made to be driven. That is what is so cool about them. Do with yours what you wish.

Welcome to the CAC! You will have a good time here.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE THE :w!

The "Black Book" says only 23 - 23!!!!! - R9G cars were built in 1990. It should have heavy duty springs and FX3 (selective ride control) on it. It could have a 'sealed' engine if specified by the order.

You might want to order a 'build sheet' and 'window sticker' from the National Corvette Museum just for show purposes.
