New Callaway C16 Makes World Debut

I have seen your "exotic" designs my friend...they look like a bad Star Wars movie..Not to mention, Callaway has actually produced cars..not digital images...Get back on the porch bro.
I do not wish to add any fuel to your flames, however I think your argument is invalid. I have no reason to bash Callaway, I’m not even interested in becoming a competitor in the Corvette market, except perhaps a few body-kits. Companies like Callaway have made customization popular, so if anything they deserve my respect and a “thank you.”

Sure I’m a mere 23 year old who invests thousands of hard-earned dollars and hours into dream (and will continue to do so), compared to a reputable corvette customization company. Does that mean my opinion any less valid? According to your standard, your opinion shouldn’t even count. I highly disagree with this elitist standard; the opinions of car enthusiasts everywhere affect the direction and quality of my design work.

Back to the issue at hand, I disagreed with the styling the first time I saw the C12. The Callaway C12 attempts to achieve an exotic Italian curvaceous style, which in my opinion is the most difficult type of styling to do right. I used to use the Callaway C12 (previous version) as an example of how the slightest imperfections in proportions make a curvaceous (low “detail”) design look extremely awkward.

Early versions of my designs are plagued with the exact same problems – it takes a lot of work to work out these small imperfections in proportions and curvature. If curvaceous low-detail styling like this was easy, we’d see a lot more companies doing it, and doing it properly.

I think this version is a huge step up from the previous Callaway. It’s a lot more balanced, but as one of my friends put it “it looks like jello.” It has some good features like the headlights, but it still doesn’t all come together and has similar problems.

My previous comment was perhaps slightly inappropriate considering my ambitions, so hopefully this constructive criticism will make more sense.

since ya put it that way!..weez good..

We all have our own opinion...I must say that I really do not totally fuse an opinion until I have seen the car in person. As for the C12, on paper or in 3-D, it may not fullfil the styling cues that stimulate you. However having put hands on the car in Le Mans and Germany...it is beautiful. The C16 remains innocent until proven jello for me. I hope to observe and digest the lines and curves in person sometime soon..at that point I will make the fianal response.
Gryphon-dude..Thanx for the insight.

yeah, and the other guy that called it ugly has a '75 brown cpe.....nice!

Dawg gone it all!! I keep forgetting there's a qualification year for an owner to be able to have an opinion on a car. Geez, I'm sorry there J.K. What year is it anyway?? Same year as yours?:booty

Cool, we're good.

I fully understand how still-photos are not always a very good representation of a car, and the 3D design experience has helped a lot with the photo versus in-person perspective. Also, in my current employment, some of what we do is exploit the "money angle" (they call it "hero angle" in the car world) or use different camera perspectives to change the look of the car. I try to not do that with my personal work, as it's a misrepresentation & if it doesn't look good from ALL angles, then my design is flawed.

<u2:p>I've seen a C12 here in Detroit and it looks like I thought it would (deflated balloon is a good analogy). I've also seen another custom-corvette here that looks like the C12 but more bubbly and stranger styling features. I think I have a good idea what this one looks like too.</u2:p>

The opinions of people who like this design are just as valid as people who don't. I won't try to change anyone's mind because everyone has their own taste and it's the job of marketing to convince people they like a sub-standard design.

The front end looks like an Ashton-Martin DB9R with a little Jaguar
