New Carpet

I need to replace the carpet in my 82. Any suggestionson who to buy from? One friend told me Al Knoch, another bought his from Corvette Central. Any pros,cons would be appreciated.

Carpet is all supplied by 2 or 3 vendors. As long as you go with the major parts houses, price is king. I got mine at The Last Detail last year as they had the best price. If I recall correctly it came from Mid-America and was cheaper than theirs.

If your carpetting is just faded or has some dirt/etc...that you cant get rid of...paint the carpet ! I did mine with the same interior panel paint (bright blue) and it was a perfect match -- took a total of 15 minutes to do the entire carpet front and rear. If its dry rotted, then replace it.

SwaveDave; I talked to Corvette America (from another post)about there carpet dye. He said it was lacquer base and would make the carpet stiff. What panel paint are talking about? Thanks

The interior color . My interior color is #976 which is for Bright BLue. You then buy an aerosol can of Bright Blue interior paint (meant for the interior vinyl panels)...and use it on the carpeting. It is not lacquer based and doesnt make it stiff. It covered extremely well and it looks like brand new carpeting now.

Look in the MId America catalogue and you will see the spray paint which you can buy for your particular interior color code and year.
