Just had the ZFDoc install a new clutch slave, master and feed line and what a difference that made. Not only do I no longer have a leak at the slave which required me to add fluid every few weeks, but the whole clutch system feels better. He explained to me in depth why that is....something to do w/ engagement and such....but let's just say it made a helluva difference.

I see posts on here frequently about having to add clutch fluid and all I can say is, if that is the case, you have a problem and will eventually need to replace these parts. Let me just say that it is money well spent cuz the clutch hydraulics have everything to do w/ how the ZF 6spd performs.
The ZFDoc knows his stuff and after going through every inch of my car w/ me, I know a helluvalot more than I did. I had this annoying shifter rattle that required me to drive w/ my hand on the shifter to keep it from rattling but no more. He shimmed it all up as well as replacing the shifter boot and now I can keep both hands on the wheel where they belong!

Anyway, it's always nice when you have work done to your car and the mechanic gets it right and keeps the price right as well. I heard about the ZFDoc on CAC and when I learned he is in Phx as well, I contacted him. He also recommended that I have my wheels balanced on the Hunter Road Force machine and that did wonders for the vibration problems I was having. Being new to Vettes as well as new to Phx, and not the mechanic that I wish I was, knowing a guy like this is a blessing. Not to mention he fixed all kinds of other little quirks w/ the car that I couldn't figure out. And ....get this...he left me his Vette while he worked on mine! Now that's service!!

Just thought that I'd share this w/ you all since it's rare to be smiling after spending money on repairs.:)

Ya know, I wish that I knew the history on this car cuz ZFDoc said that it definitely has an aftermarket performance clutch in it which makes me wonder...The car has 28k on it right now (21k when I bought it) so why would the previous owner have replaced the clutch? The dealer where I bought it (Cn'V Corvettes in Tempe,Az) said that it has the "Hot" cam as well as a BBK TB (which I can see of course...the cam I cannot obviously, but I can feel it) so the previous owner did some mods but why the clutch w/ so few miles?

Things that make you go hhhmmmm?

If you really want to get going fast, you really need to feather the clutch pretty hard into the peak of the power band. Basically, through first gear you floor it and let the clutch out slowly like a backwards throttle.... if you can do that without breaking the tires loose, you will have awesome 0-60 times, and for 1/4 mile, you will have awesome 60 foot times, which help lead to great 1/4 times.

The only problem with running that way is the clutch gets toasted quick :(

Adding Fluid

Yeah. When I bought mine about 5 months ago, the seller told me that it did leak a bit. He said he had the slave replaced, but it didn't help.

I got tired very quickly of filling it every couple of weeks and it was bad when I had to pull to the side of the road during a run and fill it! I ended up having the master replaced.

Now its great - no leakage at all. Not a cheap repair, but I guess $150 or so for the part is not too bad for Vette parts!

"get going fast"

Thx for the tip. Always interested in new "launch" tactics.;)
