New exhaust L98,1987 C-4 Vert

I have been wanting to change my stock exhaust system to something a bit more, well something with a little sound, What do you think about the Corsa system ??, I sure do not want any drone,, Just a nice sound.
Any coments about a new exhause system. I have only 12,900 miles on the Vette.:w

I like the way a Corsa system sounds, I didn't put one on my Ruby, b/c of its immense cost, but if price is not issue. Then why not?

Instead I opted for a my own design using off the shelf parts, custom system.

Yes, I have just a little drone, but not bad at all. X Pipe killed most of that.

Vids do it no justice, have to hear in person. Ignore popping, it was taken using a still cam, so sound quality stinks on ice.

I would go with the CORSA if you like the sound, and can afford the price.:thumb

With such a low mileage car, have you considered doing complete exhaust including headers?

With a convertible the loud exhaust carries over the back into the car. You won't be sure if you have drone or not.

95 Vert

I had Muffler eliminators on my 95 vert. I loved the sound the deep roar the growl when you rev her up but man on the road just cruising the drone would kill me and my wife.

Corsa

Been looking for a setup without drone, Looks like Corsa is the only system that offers one, they claim it has no drone something about the way they build it. After shopping high and low, The people at www.streetsideauto.com offered a Corsa system for $$$777.59 including shipping. The best price anywhere. I will be doing more shopping with these guys. Wish me luck on making the right choice in Corsa.:w

Headers next.

I went to the local parts store and bought the parts to remove my stock mufflers and did the whole thing in less then 2 hrs and 50 bucks. Nice looking and sounds great.

I used to own an 87 vert and felt the stock exhaust was too quiet. I bought a set of muffler eliminators but took them off after a year or so. Too loud and obnoxious. It sounds great when out playing around but in the end it was just too hard to live with and my wife refused to ride along.
I ended up with a new front Y that eliminated the stock pre-cats, Magnaflow catalytic converter, new rear Y with crossover tube and Magnaflow mufflers and new stainless steel tips (ZR1 style). The car sounded muscular but not too loud and with no drone. Seat of the pants dyno showed a positive horsepower and torque increase too.:chuckle
I now plan to do the same thing with my 91 coupe's stock exhaust. But I am also considering long tubes, bullett cats from Summit Racing and the true dual setup from Corvette Central. This would have to be fabbed up by a muffler shop to get everything properly connected.
Here is the link for the duals:

If you want some good sound at WOT but peace and quiet at idle and cruise and even when lugging the engine a bit, look no further than the Corsa system. They have absolutely no droning whatsoever. They are able to do this because only one exhaust tip per muffler works, just like the OEM exhaust.

Be aware though that the Corsa's may be too quiet for some. It's almost as quiet as stock. But they look great!

HAVE IT MY VETTE. PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT INSTALLED. MAN I TELL YOU IT'S QUIET AND WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET ON IT IT SOUNDS GREAT (LIKE A LION'S ROAR):thumb EVERYONE WHO HEARS IT SAY IT SOUNDS EXCELLENT:upthumbs. SO CORSA'S THE WAY TO GO:thumb COST ABOUT $1300.00
:cool

Not sure about all of the C4 years, but in 1988 and 1989 if you are lucky enough to have the optional performance axle, all exhaust tips were open for an extra 5HP.

I've heard and seen several C4s with the Corsas, and each owner was very happy with them.

I did NOT know that. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi Rogue, I have a 91 and there is no rumble at all, I would love to have a little rumble in idle, nothing excessive. I live in VA and still have to pass state inspections, so I am requried to keep catylitic converter in-line. What is everyone replacing, from the Cat to the tips including both mufflers?

hi tulsa...

u could also get ur vette some headers they sound pretty nice on our vettes, personally i love them to sound really agressive but they still sound decent on the inside of the car.
here is my vette with long coated headman headers, muffler eliminator and no catback system so u can compare and make a better desicion about whats best for u...:beer

I put Corsa cat back on my 89 convertible and love it. Sounds off smoe when you get on it but QUIET when crusing. Sounds like a Corvette when it is supposed to and nice for crusing. A little pricy but great quality and fit.
