New Guy-electrical problem

This site is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I'm a new vette owner and have fulfilled a life-long dream....grew up camaro and have always desired the Corvette.
anyway, have the parts manual for my C4, and the "Helm" manuals are literally on their way. But, I am deploying SOON and am storing my vette and would like to solve my electrical issue.
Here goes: Car starts fine, doesn't allow me to turn down the auto temp. trouble codes tell me -01. again, i don't have the manuals. also, (i'm ashamed) i have the CB bypassed - shorts out the 10A gauges fuse "occasionally". is this because of the -01 error on the env. control unit or do i have a bigger issue? PLEASE HELP...
