This site is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I'm a new vette owner and have fulfilled a life-long dream....grew up camaro and have always desired the Corvette.
anyway, have the parts manual for my C4, and the "Helm" manuals are literally on their way. But, I am deploying SOON and am storing my vette and would like to solve my electrical issue.
Here goes: Car starts fine, doesn't allow me to turn down the auto temp. trouble codes tell me -01. again, i don't have the manuals. also, (i'm ashamed) i have the CB bypassed - shorts out the 10A gauges fuse "occasionally". is this because of the -01 error on the env. control unit or do i have a bigger issue? PLEASE HELP...

Bigxhawks1,

Although I can't help with your problem, I do want to welcome you to the Corvette Action Center and to the "World of Corvettes"!!

Bigxhawks1,

Search this forum for "heater problems". There is a post on here that will tell you what the trouble codes mean.

What "CB" is bypassed? I would surmise that this is another pointer to the problem, but learning to search, as suggested above, is invaluable.

Welcome to the CAC and best regards on your deployment. Thanks for your service, from a Vette equipped veteran.
:w

the CB that is bypassed is the "gauges" CB -10 amp. the heater-a/c control unit (c68) has always been my suspected issue, just wanted to verify with some of the smart guys before i purchase a new one. not cheap. the main reason that i believe this is the issue is when i unplug the control unit, everything is fine. also, can put the module in diagnostics mode (rear defrost + heater up button then i can select what menu i want, but i can't go into it because my cooler button is not working. so, obviously that's a reason to replace the unit, but is that the "short" that i have in the circuit also??? any suggestions....am i on the right path?

got it working...talked myself into it. pulled the control module out, took the casing off and cleaned the circuit board connections. then proceeded to disassemble the face plate. that's where i found that the rubber buttons that do the contacting were strewed about and all. cleaned those contacts (both sides), reassembled and everything works great!!! i'm not blowing CB's anymore either.

thanks to everyone's help.

Congrats!

cash will be fine... ;LOL
