75Stingray,
I noticed your thread via an email to me from the site. I have the April 2013 issue of Corvette Magazine with the "C3Buyer's Guide". It lists the following information:
T-Top - Show Ready: $20,500, Good: $15,500, Average: $11,100, Need TLC: $6,200. One-Year change: up 6%.
ADD: $2000 for L82; $800 for A/C; $1000 for OE Hardtop.
I hope this helps you out. It is a very nice looking Corvette. You can be proud of your restoration.![]()
Have you considered joining a Corvette Club, then going on their cruises, car shows and other events. It can be a lot of fun. It would be a shame to invest that much time, effort and funds and not take advantage of all your hard work. What a great father-son story. Good luck in your future and enjoy life.
I have a 1979 L82/4-speed Corvette. I do a little auto-crossing with our club (CCA) in Maryland. We do a lot of events, so we are busy - a lot.
Regards.
Thanks for the info! So I would say this car is 100% show ready after some dusting of wires under the hood, minor cosmetic cleaning, but nothing major needs to be done to be show ready. At this time, I would say it is 90% show ready. It has OEM A/C with the mandated retrofit for today's standards due to the refrigerant. My dad was a heating/cooling man, so the A/C works. What do you mean by "One-Year change: up 6%, and OE hardtop"? Going by your information, with the car being show ready, plus adding $800 for A/C, the value of the car may be $21,300. I think we priced the car pretty fair at $17,000 OBO.
My dad and I have taken it to Corvette shows, cruise nights, and other events. We have a lot of fun doing it, and every show we entered, the car has won 1st Place in Best of Show and 1st Place in Stock Class. We take it to a cruise night every week or at least drive it once a week, so it's not just sitting in the garage under the cover, that's the worst thing for the car. But, it still has the original 50,000 mi with numbers matching. Unfortunately, with my dad having to retire early and circumstances, it has to go. Hopefully, I priced it right with the information you gave me, thanks again!!
