Gary Fox, central California, 1953 Vette #137, has been in the family since 1963. I am getting ready to rebuild my motor and transmission, looking for any advice that could help. Question, what if anything was different on the corvette motor, than the standard 235? ... is the camshaft different?

Welcome To Corvette Action Center

Welcome aboard Gary glad you've joined us! WOW the very first that started it all, 1953, 63 years ago or so you certainly have a piece of history. Not an expert on what your asking especially for a 1953 so hopefully someone that is will chime in soon. Love to see pictures of this gem :happyanim:

Welocome!!!

The wiki answer to your question:

The engine was the same 235 CID inline six that powered all other Chevrolet models, but with a higher-compression ratio, three Carter side-draft carburetors, and a more aggressive cam. Output was 150 horsepower. Because there was currently no manual transmission available to Chevrolet rated to handle 150 HP, a two-speed Powerglide automatic was used.
