New Motorsports Park could be economic engine for Bowling Green, region

he National Corvette Museum broke ground today for a planned Motorsports Park that's expected to draw thousands of visitors each year.
"This facility could be the economic engine that drives Bowling Green," Doug Fehan, program manager for Corvette Racing, predicted during the ground-breaking ceremony near Porter Pike. "This will attract some of the greatest racing teams who want to come here and test."
Fehan said it will give professional drivers a place to test their Le Mans-style racing skills, as well as provide similar experiences for people in car clubs, driving schools or other car-related activities.
Museum Director Wendell Strode told those gathered that Fehan has committed to making the facility, which will open in August 2014, the home of Corvette Racing.
