Just for snicks.... if you had deep pockets and Chevy came out with a vette that looked like the first generation bodies (ala the new stang, camaro, t-birds) would you buy it?

Possibly not. I've never been head over heels in love with the styling of 53-55 models. Now, a new/old 56-57 would get my attention.

A new/old C3 would be a hoot.

:)

There is a kit to make the C5 look like the 53-55's. I saw one on TV at the Barret-Jackson auction this year. It looked pretty cool but it didn't get the big dollars.
I personally think the 67 Vette is the best of the bunch

My mistake - it's not a kit but a company made a handful of these cars called 1953 Commemorative Edition in 2002 during the 50th Anniversary year

In my opinion, the only REAL vette look is the C3! I would buy one in a flash (if I had deep pockets).

Mee too. I was never much for retro rebodies.

The 53/03 rendition looks kinda like the Mach 5 and Lightning McQueen had a genetically engineered offspring.

I'll pass. I saw a 60-61 repro based on a c5 and the lines just didn't flow. the windshield is too raked back compared to the front end and it just doesn't look right. They might be able to pull off a mid-year kit that would look good but i wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm in the market right now to buy and I would love to see a new/old C3 give the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro a run for it's money. I think as long as the body styling is as similar to the old C3 as the Challenger is to the old then it would be worth looking into especially if you had deep pockets. Boy, I would love to see a revised C3! Unfortunately, Dodge made the Challenger very heavy. I love the look and feel though. Can't wait to see the Camaro up close and personal to make a final decision.

How about a retro that looks like a '67? Just need a donor C5 and a lot of moolah. ;)

If I had really deep pockets I'd add this to my garage, but only after I added a genuine '67.

I knew the windshield is really raked back at an angle on the C5, but I never realized how much until I saw this baby.

Retro is great! But I hope the powers at GM continue moving ahead with
the Corvette and let other models try to move back to the past. There is
so much of that Retro stuff to choose from, Corvette doesn't need to go
back in time to sell cars.

BTW, I think the Vette above is very cool!
