I have just got 1985 4+3 manual trans for the family the dash is on but very very dim and at night you can not see it at all...is this a do it your self or a shop fix

Dash

Then get yourself a FSM also and you'll get there.

There is a light sensor in the upper left corner of your dash panel, in the small square window. During the day, shine a flashlight into this sensor. The dash should get brighter. If it doesn't, you may have a bad sensor. This is assuming the four light bulbs in the dash are okay.

At night, with the lights on, have you rotated the headlight knob to see if this changes the brightness of the display? (The light sensor is not active when the lights are on.)
