New Stereo Install

Just completed all the wiring for my new DVD player in my 96. Everything seems fine, but I have no idea where the gray illumination from the DVD player connects. Anyone know?

Instructions should tell you, but I would think it should go to either the ignition or to the incandescent light control wire.

I connected mine to the gear indicator light. It was close and easy to tap into. I just ran a short wire from the stereo to the light which is about 1 foot away. All the illumination wire is looking for is current that drops when the lights come on or dim. It works fine and the stereo dims when the lights come on or when the interior lights are dimmed. My indicator light had a gray wire and a black wire. I used the gray wire.
