...new three deuces by Barry Grant

I'll be darned. Thanks for the correction. I just didn't read it that way. I guess I was just underwhlemed by the difference.

Makes sense, though.

I've been thinking about dusting off my old tripower setup. I have a set of original '68 carbs and I believe the flowrate is 350cfm each. Which, I believe is about the flow rate of the BG's...is that correct?...I just read in the article that the BG's flow 250cfm @...probably OK for the little motors

I notice that Holley still sells the 2300 model carb but it has a full air cleaner base flange on the top. Easy to mill that off but my point is that they make the 2300's in 350 and 500 cfm. Hmmm..does anyone know whether a big block tripower manifold (or the new BG manifold if it will be sold separately) will flow 1200 cfm (a center 500 plus two end 350's) or 1500 cfm? Yeah the BG setup looks pretty but I like the idea of airflow.

Any thoughts?

Nope, :nono the BG's flow 250 cfm which equals = ( fuel friendly ). As far a the manifold being available seperately, can't confirm it, but would doubt it. Got to remember the firm in in business to sell " carb's "

Heh... I'm really enjoying this thread...!!:D

To Be Or Not to be.....:) Yep, That is the question... I have to log on to the side of the Handsome Canadian Stepinwolf..:L . Do what ever turns you on..It will never stop..The moment the General comes out with an 872..someone will be in line to get one and drop it in a Corvette.

Someone will always rip off the intake and change it or add something that wasn't their. That's what we do in this Hobby.

Heh... I might even add 3 inch wide White Walls on my KO wheels...;LOL

Yup, I read the article again and you guys are correct in your statements. On a pure numbers basis, I would caution about making generalizations on average numbers. However, the tripower has incrementally, likely meaningless for the street, better numbers for hp and torque.

I correct my position to say that I'm surprised at the very small differences one measures when I would think that the evident better intake volume distribution (3 two's spread out over the manifold versus a center 4bbl) would really be noticeable.

Given the slight differences, changing the 4bbl intake and/or carb will make the differerences greater or disappear altogether, is my guess.

I STILL like 'em.

Mark,

The local dealership has one of those ( pick a number machine ) for who will be served next. I got a number months ago and informed the management that when the next MONSTER MOTOR from the General becomes available, to call me and let me know. I actually have the first ( next to be served ) number.;LOL

Keep well, and sober :duh VNV

this has got to be a huge hp improvement over a cfi setup .they normally have a 20hp advantage over a well set up 4 barrel carb at peak and more torque and throttle responce at all rpm ranges

WHILE IVE WORKED ON AND LOVE WEBER EQUIPED VETTES I DON,T HAVE A RECORD OF THE JET SIZE USED

Here's "the real deal" - 58mm DCOE cross-ram setup on the 377 in Grand Sport #003, shot at Nassau in December, 1963 (you can't get the 58mm's any more - only 48's and 50's). :)

I am not that excotic a person. I like to keep thinks simple and thats why I did not chose a fuel injected motor.

Dont get me wrong I work like a dog for every penny I earn, but price was not one of the deciding factors on this purchase, As a matter of fact i have one on order and have been sending the spead shop I purchased it from payments so that by the time it finally comes in it will have been paid for

Who's make are the side drafts..???

Don't think so Charles

Charles,

I might be mistaken but from what I can see in the picture, it look's as though the manifold is of the oval port type. Maby someone who has one, or has seen one up close, can tell you a bit more about it.
