1971 Goupe base
Just bought a green, base, 1971 Coupe, out of storage after 20+ years. Hoping for delivery next week. I'm a real corvette novice so I'm sure I'll be looking for a lot of advise. I've done a bit of wrench turning, but have been fairly depended on Hayne's manuals. Anybody have any experience with the Corvette Hayne's Manual and if it is sufficient? I've had good luck with the Hayne's manual on other vehicles...mostly British,(may other car is a '61 Triumph) so not much experience with it on American cars.

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center! Congrats on the '71! :thumb

I've reviewed some of Haynes manuals for various vehicles. Basically, for serious service work they're not that good.

You need the 1971 Service Manual and an 1971 Assembly Manual. You may want a 1971 Overhaul Manual, too, depending on what work you're doing. I have all of those for my 71 and, though the years, they've been an indispensable resource.

You can order the Service and Assembly Manuals from CAC sponsor Zip Products.

The 71 Overhaul Manual may be a bit hard to find but one place to look is Faxon Auto Literature in Riverside CA.

Enjoy your C3 and welcome to CAC.

Welcome to Corvette Action Center and Congratulations

Welcome aboard and good luck on you 71 Coupe. I think shop and service manuals are somewhat depending on what you grew up with. I started out with Motor and Chilton, but for my Vette I purchased the GM OEM and have used them quite a bit over the years and have served me well. Just my thought on the matter at the time ;shrug
