At the ripe young age of 22 I was presented with an opportunity that I couldn't pass up. It's a 1978 25th anniversary edition corvette. At $4700 I think it was a steal. The bird cage has little to no rust along the windshield or by the kickplates where the frame meets. Along with the rest of the vehicle It rides and drives great. Needs a carb tune up, some new U joints, a paint job, and a new interior (it isn't bad just torn and old) I haven't taken it apart yet to look deeper but it seems in good condition. Idk if I came off with a good deal or not but it sounds like it. At 58,009 miles I bought it and then proceeded to drive it 3 hours to get it home. Not one hitch. Except for the gauges...those don't work to well. Other than that I think I'll make myself friendly with this site seeing as I'll need a lot of advice on repairs and what not. First on the to due list.. Rochester quadrajet carb rebuild.

Welcome to CAC :w You'll finid quite a few very knowledgeable people here to help you along with your new project. As far as a "good deal", as long as you are pleased that's what counts.

:wWELCOME! Good luck with your new project.

Welcome.:w
Only a carb tune up, u joints, interior, and paint? I'm sure you'll find more to do. It happens to all of us when we start fixing something.:chuckle

Oh yeah no doubt I'll find more. Those are the obvious fixes. The engine was already gone through by some previous owner. No records of maintenance but it looks well maintained I have no doubt the engine is going to be fine. I'm sure as parts come off a repair list will grow and grow

Welcome to CAC!!!
looks like some fun and a few beers will be needed!!!!:beer

Three areas of the car require the most attention. The entire brake system, the entire fuel system and the suspension system. The first two should be completely replaced. A brake line failure during an emergency situation will cause you to lose your car, possibly your life and the life of someone else. A problem in your fuel system will cause problems with how the car runs and can even lead to a catastrophic fire. Not a fun thing to witness. A suspension system failure (broken tie rod end, idler arm ball joint failure can also cause an accident that may be fatal. Take care of those systems first and you will enjoy the car for a long time.

Welcome to CAC

You'll be surprised how much you can do yourself. The internet is a fantastic library and this site has a few of the best mechanics on the web.
