Hello all. Just picked up a 92 convertible. Its pretty ratty, paint falling off, needs interior work, but has a new top and seats. This is my first Vette so it is totaly alien to me. I was a pontiac guy but needed something different. This site has already been a great help. Changed the oil and serpentine belt. Car has a nasty vibration from 50 to 60 mph so it looks like I have some checking to do. I'm going to try to restore it so the questions will probably start flowing. Previous owner is now in jail, didn't take car of the poor thing too well. Has 80,000 on it so I'm sure it needs a lot. Hope I can do a lot of it myself.

CONGRATS AND WELCOME!!! I'm going to pick up a 90 Convt next week that has been retrofitted to look like a mid 90 corvette and am so excited... do you mind sharing how much you paid for this one? Personally, I like picking them up in a bit of shambles... you have more pride in it as you fix them up. Its a bonding experience!!!

I paid $5500.00 for it. Found it Jersey. The guys mother held the title so when he went to jail she sold the car. I figure for another 6 grand I can get it painted and fix most of the probs with it. Need a lot of weather stripping and some interior work. I'm hoping the drivetrain is in good shape. Runs good except for the vibration. Bringing it to my mechanic monday for a checkup. Can't wait for the laundry list.

Congrats on the "new toy" & welcome to the :CAC !

As a new 'vette owner you'll find this site invaluable.

Do you own all those right now? or just the vettes. No garage for me. Limits toy storage space.

Welcome to the site!

Lots of really good information and very knowledgable folks here. I'm glad it found a new home with someone who'll take care of it. You may want to invest in a good cover...after you paint it of course. I'm in the same boat as you...no garage. Fortunately my mom has a spare space in hers. Unfortunately it's a half hour away, though she tends to get more visits out of me since I started keeping my vette there. I guess that's a win-win situation.

Good luck on your project car.

Just got a cover for it. Want to protect the new top. Whats with the buttons on the lumbar part of the seat. Very uncomfortable, and they don't do anything.

Most Corvettes are a project. I bought my 67 in 1999 and thought I would drive it for severals years then start fixing it up. 5 1/2 years later I am still adding things to it and getting it just right. Thats the fun part of owning a vette. There is always a little room for improvement or change.

Nice house and super nice car. Wish I could afford one of those. I like the old stuff much better.

WOW - I've eaten off of things dirtier than that before :L

So much easier to work on, you can even see the plug wires. It's going to take me a while to get to know the new engine. Right now its all very alien to me. Time to buy a manual and start reading.

The buttons are for seat adjustments. Lumbar and bolster. Maybe it's just a fuze, maybe the motors/pumps are bad. Check fuzes first. Also possible that the switches are bad.

Congratulations on the Vette!

A little here and there and she'll be a champ and you're pride will grow the more you do to it. As far as the vibration, could be just a simple wheel balance issue.

congrats on the new toy and welcome.I too owned a Pontiac('87GTA)...Mine got stolen so I decided to go for the top dog at GM....I have never regretted it in 11 years and counting.

Also could be the bladder for the lumbar. One other thing to check are the little hose connections under the seat, there is a three hose splice that deterioriates with age. Once this is broken/disconnected the lumbar won't blow up anymore. I fixed mine with some small sections of brass tubing.

Welcome to :CAC

I like the personalized tag. Very fitting.
