Newbe with a question about power antenna, HELP

I just bought a 1980 coupe, my first Corvette. I wanted to replace the power antenna and purchased a new one from Zip. It is all pretty straight forward except the wires run through a body access plug and connect inside the body behind the speaker. How do I get the connector through the plug? The antenna istallation instructions say that splicing the wires will void the warranty.

Take the plug out and with a razer knife slice it lengthwise.

That the only way to get it done. It is very simple once you do it.
