2000 black convertible
Was a foreigner for about 12 years having a 1975 TR-6 which I re stored. Sold it a couple years ago and was looking for a 2000 C-5 auto, black w/tan interior convertible. Found one here in New York [Malone] purchased it last year. Am thrilled it's a great car, great shape. Nothing like an American sports car. Really proud to own one and be part of a great group of people. My first question is.. if I upgrade the wheels [rims] will the TM sensors have to be replaced or can they be transferred from the old to the new, using the same size tires? Secondly, there are 2 different sizes for the rear 18 9.5 and 18 10.5. Where would I find out what mine are? Is that width sizes? Lot of questions for my introduction, but considering I'm the new guy on the block, not to bad.. Thanks

Welcome to the club Boss.....not sure but I think the tire sensors should work.....some smart guys should have a definite answer on that soon for you......

Welcome to the forum, you should find all your answers in the C5 tech section.

Welcome to the Forum Boss.
Hopefully someone on the Forum can answer you question.

I know people from Malone. The Coughlin and Learned families. Small world. :w

Welcome aboard!!

Welcome aboard Boss. :w You'll find some very knowledgeable people here at CAC.

As for your question. You car came with 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the rear. The 9.5/10.5 combo came with the Z06's that came out in 2001. Those wheels will fit without any issue on your 2000 vert. Just be aware that you need to get the right sized tires for the appropriate wheels. Standard tires were 245/45x17 in the front and 275/40x18 in the back with those 8.5/9.5 combo. The Z06 came with 265/40x17 in the front 295/35x18 rears. Can you put 275/40 tires on 10.5 wheels? Sure but they will look funny and "stretched". As for the the tire sensors they can be moved from one set of wheels to another. The early versions, 97-00, are hard to come by and the batteries are beginning to fail. Not sure what to tell you about that, as they are not available anymore from GM. I don't know whether or not an aftermarket supplier has begun making them.

Welcome to Corvette Action Center

Welcome aboard Boss, you have some valid questions and concerns about wheel/tire sizes and etc. They should work fine but may be others on here that want to chime in too. . . . Good luck and stay in touch, let us know how you progress along :v

You've confirmed knowledge and why this is a great forum.. Thanks so much. I was told that the size was on the inside of the wheel, I was going to take one off, but its 5 below outside and about 25 in the garage. Being in Kansas you're getting some bad weather also..we're expecting 25 below Thursday.. Anyway enough of the weather, thanks again for all the valuable information you've been a tremendous help.. :beer

Frankly......we had glorious weather today. It was almost 60, breezy, but nice. We made a 4 hour trip to Wichita to pick up our grandson at the airport and the 4 hour return trip. Just got home. Wish it could have been in the Corvette.
