I just bought a 2003 coupe, drove 100 miles home a parked it in the garage. Three days later it was "dead". After charging with a trickle charge I went out today to "pull" codes. Going through the outline proceedure (options, fuel 4 times) It didn't show ANY codes as I was prepared to write them down. ANY ideas where I should start checking before I take it to the local GM house. Of course it's just gone out of warranty. It does constantly display the ABS and trac. control lights so I'm prepared to send the ABS module to ABS Fixer. ;help;shrug

HI there,
If your ABS light is on, you have codes.
Dead, first have your battery checked.
Next, codes will not show for an electrical draw condition.
You will have to have it checked to see what is drawing on the battery if it tests good.
Your battery terminals should be tightened to 11 ft lbs.

Specialist, you're the best. I've never know that there were torque specs for my battery terminal connector. I just cranked it until it was good and snug and just before I stripped out the lead threads. :)

Kudos on all of your help, buddy.

NOT ON YOUR O4, NOT 11 ft lbs.
This is ONLY FOR SIDE TERMINAL BATTERIES!!!!!!!!
Your 04 has top post and are torqued to 71 in lbs!!!!!!

Just a side note, when you do get the chance to pull the codes dont even try to write them down, you will have to run the cycle 3 or 4 times and still not be sure you got them all unless you're reading them out loud to someone. Use your camera to record them then replay it as slow as you please. So much nicer!

C4C5 I have been reading your posts for a long while now and would really value your opinion on my engine hesitation problem posted 10/31/08. Thanks in advance. -- Liquid

:eyerole Thanks for the input. I've determined thew lack of codes was caused by low voltage. I'll follow up with the current ones.;worship

Larry, here's a C5 new owner thread which is posted in the C5 General Forum. It contains links to several threads which a new owner may find useful. Click

Liquid, Post #11 (here) in the C5 Code thread explains entering manual mode so that you can scroll through the codes at your own pace. :thumb

Liquid;

Just to let you know, after the OBD runs through all the sections (PCM...TCS...RDM..) at the end, you can review them in manual mode.
You can use the two keys below fuel, one to move forward and one to move back. So you can take your time writing them down :thumb

Ok I've pulled the following codes, 1040 "no comm." I'm blaming the ABS module and going to check connections before removing it and sending it to be repaire. But the next I have no idea. 1571 "desired torque" ??

10 PCM P1571 = ASR desired torque-C ??

58 SDM U1040

????
