No second gear scratch

I think cars without the G92 option have the highest top speed and I have heard that for autox they are pretty cool as you can drop the car into first gear and have a party at most autox's without ever having to consider going to second. (Just watch the tach to not overrev)

Every corvette combination as its pluses and minus..

I do remember one of the guys on the net..being a california champion in his A4 2:73 rear gear vette and thats what he was telling me..

You might just have the autox beast too..

Enjoy and remember smoking the tires is way over rated..

As the miles pile on..you'll easily be able to do it if you like..

You can always power brake if its a must..I just never found that to be the fastest way down the quarter mile..

No spin..always meant a better chance of a WIN..

Quick chip and your off the line faster..IMHO

Ok I think I know what it can be. I always like to run light on fuel so im never above 1/2 tank. Some people like to keep the tank full all the time and even though its probrably better for the car youre hauling more weight around. Try driving the car by yourself on 1/4 tank of gas and see if it makes a difference. I filled up my car today and tried it and it did break loose but it wasnt the same. Could also be those new tires + the gas thing...

I will try it, the DIC says I have 40 miles until empty, there will be two test. (1) Will I make it to the gas station (2) Will the second scratch happen before I run out. Good way to start the day!

My 98 ragtop will smoke the tires from a dead stop right through second gear. On the move is a different story, I can catch a second gear chirp sometimes, usually when it is cooler outside and I don't have the pedal to the floor, I leave a little room and then jam it on the shift, when timed right this works.

I was considering a Transgo shift kit for it which would give you that second gear chirp any time you wanted.

So did you light em up? Also dont hold the brakes and hit the gas. Just step on it good off the line it should break loose make sure your tire air pressure is not too low and also try rolling until 30 MPH and hit it. The car should down shift into 1st gear and spin. If your really concerned about it have the car dynoed and compare the hp to other stock C5s.. My friends 99 Camaro SS breaks loose at 80 MPH he has a 6 speed and more hp than he can put to use on the street. Just wait till I get my ATI Procharger I'll show him.. maybe...

Nope, didn't break loose yet. I chickened out on the low gas deal, I ran too low and didn't feel like pushing it to a gas station. Going drving this weekend and will around with it since the roads are dry again.

scratch

My car seems to want to break loose easier and have more power when the traction control is ON than when I turn it OFF. Tires start to slip and the traction control steps in. Any chance GM programmed it that way to keep us from hammering down on it and thereby saving warranty $$$$$$????

I could be wrong and probrably am but I hear that on an automatic if you press the brake and the gas at the same time there is a torque management system that retards your timing. I could be wrong and I would check with the experts on this.

Not for sure, but I have an appointment with Ed Wright (Fast Chip) the 19th and I will take care of those issues and some others hopefully.
