Rowdy: Good point and well taken. You always have to "size up" your potential opponent.

as a former mopar fan and as the former owner of a 68 and 69 charger I agree.....that was one sweet car...:)
Oh man, I'd give my left nut to have my '69 Charger back!

I don't care what type of car sombody likes. We should welcome all car nuts. Only by force of numbers can we keep the enemy at bay. This enemy is the crowd that will not be satisfied untill we are forced to drive some type of electric golf cart.
I agree. Someone else said it very well earlier in the thread. It's not what someone drives. If they're happy with it, great. Just don't cop an attitude that it's the best thing ever. You like it? You drive it and enjoy. Don't dis mine though because it's not your "taste", and I'll give you the same respect.

Just ignore them. I remember (about 1960) my father and his buddies laughing at me for ripping all the chrome emblems off my 1955 Chevy and leading in the holes/ throwing away the orginal hub caps and putting on cheap baby moons. ( all that orginal stuff is really worth something now). And cutting a hole in the floor to install a floor shift!!!!! Oh yeah how about heating the front springs to lower the car. But I was cool and knew it all. I was a hot rodder and knew more than anyone else.
The rice burner crowd is just the next generation doing their thing just like we did. As long as they don't insult my wife or run me off the road I don't care what they do. I'm exactly where I want to be.
Sure like to have that 55 chevy back..................

See.... see..... look at how many of you want your old chevy back. I'm not going to make THAT mistake. That is why I am keeping ahold of all these cars! Although, I did sell my 67 convertible chevelle and probably shouldn't have. Not regretting it yet though.

I agree with Bill whole-heartedly!

You and me both! The list of cars that I wish I still had is very long. <sigh>
The most recent is my old '84 Z51 Vette. At my age, I shoulda known better!

:duh

Kids at work tell me, this car and that car will smoke my vette! I say ... you can put a rocket on a skate board and beat any car ... that doesn't make me want it! What is it with these matchbox wannabe's?

Its like your autograph...

Its yours. Regardless of horsepower, spoilers, loudness of the bass, and that muffler!..my vette came out of the nursery rated at a whopping 190 horses!
It has some minor mods that i guess bring me to 230 or 240...next cruise fest im in on the dyno run...i get the nod at almost every traffic stop it seems....i even had a guy in a C-5..non wave...just a finger pointing forward.....i stopped and waited for the light to change , watching his tail lights fade away as i finished my right hand turn....I also work with a guy that races snowmobiles...this nut is intense as they get...holds records and what not....he gets 300 horses out of his 1 liter engine! and he is still tuning it for more edge....he spend hours on tuning , then off to the dyno lab...my engine is 5.7 liters at 190 hp...i wonder what i could get letting him at my vette with about $20000 in his pocket!
My vette is mine, i dont race her, i love to run free at times on the freeway , picking my spots to feel it set me in my seat....i love the way it looks and makes me feel...thats the thing for me.
Wonder what the Callaway guys would have to say here?:D
Im with Lou....if it feels right , go with it.
I would venture to guess that the guys dissin your vette would talk diffrent if you were standing with them one on one and man to man. i didnt see many of those guys at CAC cruise fest....you were the one showing up in your vette to begin with .... not many guys in ricers show up at the real classic shows...but i always see the hoods of a Corvette open at EVERY show i have ever been to...YOU are driving an American tradition....im not sure what the other guy is driving , but i bet my last paycheck , he's wishin he was in one too!
My opinion here....Chas:w

Well said, CHAS.

Hey calvins, LOOOVE the avatar! Too cute!

Great comments and observations. They were just rude kids. I was an early ricer with the mods on my used '72 Celica. Stripes, carb, wheels etc. I sold it for $1900 and bought a '63 convertible Vette. Quite the upgrade, huh. Now that's a ricer mod we can live with here!!!

It would seem that the F&F movie had a big influence on this type of car owner. I STILL want a white '70 Dodge Challenger like Kowalski drove in one of the all time best movies 'Vanishing Point'

Yeah, ever noticed how they're always saying, "I know someone who knows someone that has a car that's faster than yours." Then you say to them, "Yeah, maybe, but you don't own it so what's your point?" That usually shuts them up. :L

Thats another differance between the ricer crowd and the Corvette crowd.

I have just as much respect for the guy who has a 305 in his Corvette as the guy who has a twin turbo 427. If its your ride and you are happy with it ,you dont need to compare it to anything else.

Thanks. Feel free to "steal it" if ya wanna. I don't take that stuff seriously.
I just thought that it was cuter than h*ll and went well with "Save the Wave"

I've got an all original; same carb, same gas tank, same wires etc, 1978 Corvette in great condition and will run like a jack rabbit..... wonder how their rice bowl will fair when it's 26 years old...

I don't think those cars will last 6 years ... ready for the crusher in 4. At least that's the way they look to me. Not many vehicles left worth saving any more, the "vette" is an exception. With all the fancy cars they build ... nothin' like a vette, no matter what year.

yep, you got robert- I'm on my 4th C3 and made money on each sale. Can't go wrong with Vettes if you do it right. Had a 1993 Competition Yellow I bought brand new in Daytona Beach, FL, had to sell after a couple of years- took a bath on the loss however.

Newer Vettes just depreciate because of the market, however, you sure can pick up a good deal as these cars get older AND they're a great bargain since there quality built! Looking forward to purchasing my previously owned C6 in the future.

see ya,

Sully
