Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Not for nothin', but ....

Theres more than one forum ? ;) ;LOL :w This is without a doubt the best

darn site on the net. :gap :CAC

I think if you compared the "bigger" Corvette forums and websites to CAC you'll find that a larger proportion of CAC members actually own a Corvette and in quite a few cases they own or have owned more than one Corvette. I also believe, based on the informed discussions here, that CAC members not only own a Corvette but purchase a large amount of upgrade and replacement parts. CAC members are a very knowledgeable about their Corvette passion. (IMHO) These facts tend to weed out the wannabes and posers making CAC a better experience for its core members. This also makes CAC a better value for the advertising sponsors because more of the viewers (users) actually become customers.

I've also seen a recommendation that a tool box only truly needs 2 items in it: WD40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it's supposed to, use the WD40 on it. If it moves and it's not supposed to, use the Duct Tape on it.

Maybe this will spare y'all having to buy a lot of expensive tools for nothing.

That's good! :L

ITeachFlyin,
I've been watching this thread from the beginning, and thought I should add my $0.02 on the subject of CAC activity. Actually, the points I want to make were made by others:

I agree with everyone that has made comments. The CAC is an outstanding site with some very good members who have vast amounts of knowledge about vettes. I used to be a member of another vette forum. But everytime someone would ask a legit question they would get slammed by some of the members. I have yet to see that happen here. That is why I decided to become a supporting member. My money is well spent since several of my answered questions resulted in me saving some serious $$$.

Don't confuse level of activity with substance. We actually have a fair amount of activity here, admittedly not what you will find on some other forums, but the informed responses of our members to questions or problems which arise in ownership of a Corvette have a value I would stack up against any other Corvette community on the web.

Every online community is going to have it's own personality or culture to it. Rob's vision for the CAC was to make this community first and foremost a knowledgeable, reliable resource for Corvette enthusiasts. And to do that, not only did he have to create items like the CAC's Knowledgebase and Model Center, he had to encourage that contributions of members were without "attitude" or attack. That's why Tammy and I are here, to help reinforce this vision of CAC in these C5 forums.

I hope in your visits to various Corvette communities on the web, you'll bear this in mind, as I think it makes a world of difference to how useful a community is to a new Corvette owner. And I hope you'll decide to spend more and more of you time here.

:w (Don't forget to wave!)

Thanks Patrick. My hat is off to you guys cause you do make this a very "user friendly" site for anyone who wishes to come here. Please keep up the good work.

What I respect about the CAC, and why I decided to support it with my hard-earned
simoleans is:
1) I'm a mature adult and I don't want to act like a child and jump on someone just because it's the internet and I can get away with it.
2) Seems like the CAC attracts mature people
3) Immature behavior is not tolerated here
4)I can learn a lot on this site. I did not find that on any other Corvette site I visited.
I honestly never visited any other more than once. They all seemed like faceless bravado. If you want to lie or attack someone, just go to a chat room or the nearest alley.
5)I respect the moderators/administrators for the excellent job they do.

This is one friendly place. See you all in June in Bowling Green!:CAC

Not harsh, just a good pointed question. Nothing wrong with that :cool

I was afraid it might turn into one of those "Hey, CAC is ok but site xxx is a whole lot better" kind of threads. < sigh of relief >

Glad everything is ok, and hope you find that this place is what you're looking for.

When I go into the Corvette Action Center C5 General Forum and it says (1 viewing) am I to suppose that there is really only 1 person viewing that forum at that time? I guess what I'm saying is that that doesn't make for much feedback! When I go onto the Corvette Forum there are usually at least 300 Vetters viewing at any given moment.
Secondly, it seems that I see much of the same threads in both forums. Am I again to suppose that the same people subscribe to both forums? If so, and assuming there is a 300 to 1 ratio of Corvette Forum to Corvette Action Center Forum viewers, please help me understand the value-add provided here. I am not trying to be nasty or sarcastic about this. I have received some good insight from the couple of posts I've made here ... I just want to know if it's worth bouncing back and forth between forums. Thank you.

You are correct...many members here also belong to the CorvetteForum..which has over 75,000+ members..thats why there are so many more members viewing each category...
I like to visit this forum because it is so much more relaxing in the sense that you don't get bashed very often here and there is also a world of information on Corvettes here...the CorvetteForum has professional troublemakers out in full force:L ....this is a small but really nice forum....:)
xxx:L ....isn't that like porn stuff;LOL
On some of the other Corvette sites I've visited , porn is pretty much what you get.:L Albeit soft porn. ;LOL

Not trying to single out (nor bash) CorvetteForum here - I don't recall it particularly... just a general observation I have concerning other sites I've visited in the past. One indicator to me was, believe it or not, the Smiley Faces you could add to your posts. Some of them were offensive to me and indicated that bashing was not only allowed, but promoted by providing little faces to make your point crystal clear.

I like the fact that bashing is not tolerated here at all. Debate, yes. Bashing, no. The troublemakers may visit, but they don't stay long - either from boredom OR a swift boot out the door. Thanks Rob and Company.

"soft" porn :L..hmmmmm....somehow that sounds funny....:bang:L

I propose a simple test. Which site would you want your little girl, or boy, to visit? Second question. If your little girl, or little boy, ask "daddy, mama, what is that?" are you ready to answer the question? Third question. I know that some of you, as well as i, visit this site at work. So, would you feel comfortable with leaving the image of a half undressed someone on your monitor just as your boss walks in? I work for the DoD and i can tell you that stuff like that will get you fired and in some cases, in jail.

I have no problem at allowing my kids look at this site. The other site I use to visit I did have a problem with my kids looking at. Simple because of some, not all, of the stuff that showed up there. When the moderators tried to clean it up, there was a huge uproar with some of the members there and in the end, same ole stuff. So i choose not to be a member anymore. That was my decision. Others may find that sort of stuff entertaining. I say to those folks "go for it". That is your decision.

Bottom line is that if I wanted porn, I am sure that it wouldn,t be all that hard to find it on the internet. Second, if i wanted a good bashing I have to look no further than the kitchen. The war department (better half) has no problem at ensuring I get my daily dose of bashing.:L

I am by no means a bible thumper. But there has to be a line drawn between what is decent and what is not. I like the fact that the CAC is a site that anyone can come to and would have no problem at allowing his kids, mother, or wife also visit the site as well.

Thanks CAC.

Just my .02 worth.

CAC Site Kudos

Sometimes bigger is not always better (where forum subscriber numbers are concerned) I think that the members of this forum have a long standing reputation for having a sophisticated dialog and a genuine desire to be of assistance with issues related to the Corvette. Most posts are genuine and informative. The moderators do an excellent job and help keep the forum for the reasons it was initially intended. Thanks !! Also, we appear to attract Vette owners who seem more interested in substance rather than posting random issues. Just an observation.

It's probably less noticeable today, for the proliferation of specialized web sites in the internet, but back in its infancy, the CAC was a huge help. Today, it is still a leader in Corvette-related information, and it does caters to all Corvette owners.

As far as I am concerned, CAC's association with the L81CorvetteRegistry helped me inmensely in solving corvette issues with my car. I am not affraid to admit that the 1981 Corvette did not promote alot of interest in the public in the past, and as a result, very little technical information and knowledgebase was available, but today, I truly believe that the L81's are bouncing back on popularity. As a result, we're better today.

Some of us probably spend more time than others, but many of us can always count on fast responses to suddent issues that may crop-up on our vehicles.

To make you a believer, you should try attending this years Cruise-Fest. You'll know what I mean.

Let's not forget the most important difference between CAC and the other forums. The members here are a much more attractive group. ;)
