I have a 1989 coupe, just put new head gaskets and a water pump on her, has most of the bolt on stuff from Mid - America, whats the best deal on getting a nitrous system? Im not looking for huge gains, maybe 50- 75 hp. (hehe) any info would be great , thanks, Doug Castner, aka, captbane@yahoo.com

I'd love to hear this one as well, It's not illegal to run it on the street so why not.

I think it is here in the US, unless they changed something, or I have been misinformed... Canadians get all the breaks :L.

The system from NOS 5151 is going for around $540 for the kit. This doesn't include the bottle warmer or the gauges for pressure and fuel pressure but it gets you the kit. On the corvetteforum (under the forced induction/nitrous General section)there was a member that did his recently with a nice writeup and pictures of how to complete the process. Pretty straight forward and looks like a boat load of fun. Legal in the US, sure why not. I personally wouldn't do it on the street because I would push the limit until I got caught or I blew something up. I don't drag race but once a year at a local car show but by far the cheapest horsepower you're ever going to buy in that price range.

Gotta be careful with Nitrous or the engine will soon be history. Watch your fuel trim and don't dare let it lean out.

Nox?

Are you wanting a bolt-on pollutant system? ;LOL

Seriously though... NOS is your best bet (5151) and as long as your engine is in reasonably good shape, it'll withstand a 100 shot of nitrous. Fuel trim isn't anything to worry about as this is a wet system (system has a fuel solenoid as opposed to a dry system which depends on injector pulse width for extra fuel)The biggest problem with nitrous systems is lack of knowledge and basic common sense. Nothing to be afraid of as long as you respect it... You will, of course need to make sure your fuel system is up to snuff (good pump with sufficient pressure and change the fuel filter religiously - at least every 10K miles if not more often). Good luck to you!

I have some experience with nitrous, I can possibly help you a little if you have some questions. We dont have it on the Vette, but I have it in my nissan maxima, and it walks all over the Vette. Its fun, but be careful with safety and of course driving.
