The octane boosters that are truly safe for your engine's emissions controls (mainly the O2 sensors and the cats) are unable to make a useful increase in octane when added to premium pump gas.
The octane boosters capable of useful increases, which are boosters that use MMT as the active ingredient, can be harmful to both O2s and cats.
If you need more octane, I suggest using an unleased racing gas. Mix it starting at 1:5 racing gas to pump gas then work up until you have zero knock retard.
