My 1988 C4 is equipped with a 4+3 manual tran w/overdrive. I have noticed that the overdrive is slow to engage when the button is pressed on the shifter. Does this sound like a low level of fluid in the tran, it just started to happen so I haven't had a chance to get the car up on a lift as yet?

Possibly
How long since O/d fluid / filter was changed?
Factory recommends every 12,0000

Hi thanks... I think you are right, I'm embarrassed to say, as an avid car guy, I have missed the overdrive oil inspection.

HI, The magnet in the OD pan will give you a hint if it's been awhile since the ATF has been changed in the OD unit. By all means, change the fluid/filter.

Don't buy a expensive filter from a Corvette place

"The OD filter is the same as the one used in Ford FMX trannies.
CarQuest 85926
AC Delco TF-184
FRAM FT1024
NAPA ATP 14717
Ford D0AZ-7A098-A
None of these filters come with the rubber grommet so you have to re-use the old one".
