I'm reserving my judgement until I see the C6...... and my guess is that no Caddy will touch the base coupe, nor the Vert... and the new Z06 (if it's labeled that) will depart further from the mainstream.

I think the common usage of some parts is ideal, who cares if the Vette has it's own style door handle, or stereo control head.... common parts brings the price down, increases the quality through more customer base usage and development. The important parts like the body, suspension, engine, and rear end are the important things to consider. Even at that some commonality is still good, especially if the technology is being developed and tested in other platforms before it reaches the Corvette.
Take a look at the very first Corvette.... sexy body over 1953 technology, and it started something that the world had never seen, and it's still going strong 50 years later.

I may have been a bit short before. I don't just care about going fast, but it is pretty dang important. Why have a car that can handle if it won't go fast enough to really enjoy it. I looked at a new 1973 Corvette on the showroom and had a gentleman try to talk me into buying his 66 big block drop top instead for $3,000.00. I wish I had done that deal back then, but at that time there wasn't much interest in the C2's. I even had a neighbor that was willing to sell me his '58 for $1,500. Man, were those the days.

If Chevrolet needs to build the new Caddy in the Bowling Green Plant for business reasons, the by all means they should build it there. As the alternative may be something we all would regret. Every new car built is a compromise, and sometimes it takes a few years to correct some things that shouldn't have been compromised. They will build what sells, and what doesn't sell, will no longer be built. But to continuosly complain about something very few people in the country really know the details about is just silly.

I personally thought my 73 SD455 Trans Am was much more car that any Vette built in the 70's, or I would have had the Vette. It was more of a status symbol than a true sports car. But thank goodness that's changed. I like my 76 junk heap because it reminds me of me teenage years. I don't expect much from it and it has yet to let me down. Plus, it's an awfully simple car to work on.

Hopefully some of you will put your petty differences aside and wait like the rest of us for the C6 to make it's debut. If the Caddy's ugly, then the sales will reflect that. I personally look forward to the C6, just like I looked forward to the C5, C4, etc.

Patience is a virtue. Over the next 6 months the rumors, speculations, arguements and opinions will be flying around until the new C6 rolls out. For example, I thought that the CTS-V was powered by the existing Z06 engine. Th same way that over the next several years, many other GM products will use the LS1 engine. They have proven out both engines in the C5 and can now utilize this knowledge and cost savings in there other vehicles. I saw a picture of the CTS-V LS6 engine, and it sure lookes like the old Z06 motor. I know i'll get a lot of disagreement, but i do not believe that there is any way that GM woyuld ever put the new C6 engine in anything but the C6. I originally thought that the C6 engine would br classified as an LS2 or a more powerful LS7. Someone please show me proof that the LS6 in the CTS-V is really a C6 engine

It is NOT the C6 engine

Michael, you are quite correct. Please see my post earlier in this thread. It contains a link to the actual Autoweek article being discussed, and the article clearly states that the CTS V engine is the current LS6 (minus 5 hp) as taken from the C5 Z06. In no way does the article imply that this is the Corvette C6 engine.

I might as well throw in my $.02

I worked for GM 32 years I have seen cars I personally prefer dropped for production of “more profitable” vehicles. The popularity of SUV’s and Pickups (bought by people who will never get them dirty, let alone haul anything other then groceries) killed GM’s finest Sport Sedan the 94-96 Impala SS.
With the exception of the Corvette the only other RWD production facilities are making trucks and Suv’s which is most likely why the Caddy will be built alongside the Vette. I looked at the autoweek article and think it (the Caddy) is UGLY.
Cars should be like women and have curves in all the right places

Caddy is kool!!!!!!!!!!!

c'mon, give credit where credit is due. The new caddy is a neat machine, not for me but it's still neat.

l would rather buy the new caddy then the new Mercedes and l've owned them both, that's if the caddy is what it is supposed to be.

Then again, where can we really drive over 125mph, and going from 0-60 is nothing more then penis envy.

What l love is to hear and feel a big block V8 under my foot.

Good thread!!! A lot of people showing their true colors.:D
I gotta agree with this guy! and, some of the colors aint pretty.

True colors indeed. I find it amazing the lack of humor in this section. Maybe its the new age demographics of the Corvette. Could it be that the Cadillac/Corvette age demographics have changed positions? Hmmmmmmm..... GM might not be so dumb after all.

CFour:

Webster's description of humor:

The quality of being amusing or comical.

The ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is comical or funny.

---------------------

I never see any humor in your comments. The only thing you seem to thrive on is trying to encite hostility and then stand back and say "lil' ol me??".

So you really, really don't like what has or is going on, which seems to be the case. You're desperate desire to make sure people understand that you dislike GM with a passion has worked.

Congratulations!

BUT, to really really show me , SELL YOUR CARS.

Show me you really mean it. Come on, make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of your convictions.

Show me how big your cahunas are. You can't possibly back own on this one.

Be the smart one and show us all off.

The dare is out now. ACT ON IT!!!!
