Can anyone tell me how to replace the round 'hub cap' on my '78 wheels,
& what kind of glue to use to put the crossed flags disc on the cap?

Also, how do you change the rear end oil?
The service manual does'nt explain how, is it like a standard differential where you take off the cover to drain it?

THANK'S,:confused Gary

Can't help with hubcap or emblem glue.

Rear gear lube is sucked out through fill hole. Removing rear cover on C3 is MAJOR undertaking ... rear spring attached to it. I've used a kitchen turkey baster & hose. It'll come out a lot easier if you setup a heat source nearby & warm the diff

Gary B., if the "hub cap" is anything like the one's on my 80 coupe, it's a fairly simple job. The easiest way is to remove the wheel and tire from the car and remove the old hub cap from the back side of the wheel. I had to replace mine a couple of times because those stupid plastic tabs on the edge kept breaking. As for the emblem, the ones I always got from the dealer always had self adhesive on them. If tghe ones you have don't have self adhesive, I'd go to my local Home Depot, or the like, and get some double sided tape, and use that instead of glue.
Hope this helps some.

Chris

I had a loose hub center cap when I bought my Vette about three months ago.
I cleaned the cap tabs and wheelhole carefully, and used "5 minute" epoxy spread with a popcycle stick in the wheel hole. Don't put the epoxy on the cap tabs as the excess will squeeze out onto the wheel. Don't drive the the car for about 12 hours to allow the epoxy to cure completely.
Hope this works for you, too.

Gary,

I had to replace several of those plastic hubs and finally got tired of them falling off. Several of the after-market sellers have a steel, chrome plated hub that is attached via allen screws (you have to remove the wheel and install from the back side). They are a little more expensive, but in the long run are probably cheaper than replacing the plastic ones all the time.

Just a thought. Brian

I finally wound up getting the center caps Fishman is speaking of. In fact Mid America should have them. I got the ones with the knock off spinners. They looked pretty good, too!!!

To get the Rear Diff fluid out as much as possible, you are better off using a cyphon of the variety with a thin clear tube with a rubber hand pump (just a little bulb you squeeze) about 1/3 of the way down the tubing. You need something with good pumping power and a thin tube to get down to the bottom of the diff.... where all the yicky stuff hangs out. Once you get it primed, gravity will take over. I don't think you will need to heat unless it is below 0 where you are. I did mine when it was 35F outside.

No clue what to do for your hubcaps. Sorry.
