i know what kind of oil gm suggest to use but i was wondering if there are other types of oil to use that will do the same job without the cost.
open for suggestions

There are several other synthetic oils that will meet the GM requirements .The only thing is there all expensive compared to dyno oil .I'm willing to bet you'll save no more than $5 bucks an oil change .Don't skimp and buy cheap oil filters ,filters are key .

Welcome and happy shopping :thumb

All the GM spec synthetics - Mobil, Pennsoil, etc are usually within a buck or two in price for a 4 or 5 quart jug. How cheaper were you expecting?;) $25 for a 5 quart jug is a cheap insurance for an expensive set of wheels.

I recently read a post by C4C5specialist that any oil meeting the new Dexos rating was ok to use in any corvette as it meets/replaces the earlier GM spec. The cost for Dexos rated lubricants are cheaper than Mobil 1. As catbert said Mobil 1 or even some of the other synthetic oils are pretty cheap now. Walmart is $22-$23 for a 5 quart jug, Advance Auto Parts and O'riely have been offering 5 quarts of Mobil 1 with a Mobil 1 filter for $29.95, then the next cycle it will be Valvoline Syntec and a Pure 1 filter for the same price. Just keep on the lookout for the local ads.
