Oil consumption 1999 thru 2002

I have read theat the oil comsumption is high due to a faulty #2 valve and the engine has to be dropped. This happens in more manuals then autos.

When l am out searching for my C5 how can l tell if it consumes more oil then it should?

I will be getting an auto.

The February issue of Corvette Fever has a good article/Oil Burner on pg.90/C5 Solutions about LS1 oil consumption.

The previous/original owner of my 2000 Roadster pushed GM to replace the LS1 rings under warranty.
