Ideas/solutions, please

I have a 406SBC in my '84 Corvette; factory equipped with an oil cooler. I was (poorly) advised to use a larger capacity oil pan and am using a Miloden 7 quart, with 'flared' bottom.

The 'flared' bottom precludes the use of the normal spin-on oil filter, due to the oil cooler fitting extending the filter down where it interferes; I have installed a remote, which I am not happy with.

Do you know of any angled adapter which would allow a spin-on filter, albeit at a slightly 'cocked' angle? I may have to have one custom machined.

TIA

added later: Jim'sPerformance suggested that a PH30 is short enough; I will try it. The PH8 is too long.

I would try calling http://www.moroso.com or visit the site. These guys can work wonders with this stuff.

Both Summit and Competition Products (and I'm sure others as well) sell a remote oil filter adapter which allows a filter to be mounted anywhere under the car. I'm thinking you could attach this to the oil cooler and then mount the filter elsewhere.

I've also seen a "radiator" that fits around the oil filter itself and acts as a cooler of sorts, and then there's the radiator-style oil coolers that mount up front in the airflow like a tranny cooler (talk to Hib Halverson about those; he's got one).
