HI again from OK.

Went to the parts store to ask for the switch they gave me BWD S4087 that shows for gauges, it has 3 prongs, the one I took out has 1. They show that to be for The idiot light (that's what we called them back in the 60's). They did show another one but the thread size was to large.

Do I use the single prong light application?

Thanks

Bob

What are you replacing ; the pressure switch ( for fuel pump ) or the gauge sender unit?
The 3 prong is the style used on the '89's ; combines switch and sender in one unit

Good question!!

I thought I was taking the one off that controlled the fuel pump. It is the one that sticks up at an angle on the drivers side. It takes a apecial socket to remove. the one I removed had 1 prong and the conecctor had 1 wire.

I saw both in the FSM , but couldn't see the sender unit.

I guess I need the one that I took off regardless of what it does.

My '90 had 2 seperate units
The 1 wire is for the gauges
The 2 wire is a pressure switch for the fuel pump

Thanks for the info, where is the 2 wire switch?

I looked and I didn't see it. Like I said, the single wire one stuck straight up.

Thanks

Bob

There is also an oil temp sender. Think above the filter, that could be confused for a pressure sender.

Glenn,

I think you are right on that one, the parts guy at the dealership said the same.

How is the weather there??

Thanks

Bob

Glenn,

It turned out to be the IAC.Now it starts and idles great. I replaced the oil switch by the distibutor and it stopped the needle from hopping around.

0 degrees, We have that here ocassionaly. It's supposed to get to the low 80's Thursday.

Had a couple of Ice storms and tornados here this year , but we are used to it.

I ready for summer.

Thanks for your help.

Bob
