My 82 used to read 40 psi as soon as it started up. But now it reads 20 psi for anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes then pops up to 40 psi. No oil issues, does not change it's behavior after oil change and level is not low. Sp I'm thinking either faulty gauge or sender. My question is: is it obviously a sender as a gauge would never act like that if it was going "out" ?

Also second question, what oil pressure does everyone else read on a 350? Is 40 psi pretty healthy?

Thanks,

Theo

I have read that if you have 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM you're OK.
My 350 reads 20 PSI after warmup at idle and 30 PSI at 1000 RPM, again, when warm. On a cold start I have in excess of 60 PSI.

i just put fresh rod bearings in mine. i run 80 lbs. at start up. when it warms up it never drops below 60-70..

I have the same with my rebuilt 327 60-70 lbs at idle.
