what would be the best oil to use in my 88" L98 engine with 105 thousand miles on it? thanks for your replys.

Depends on leaks and relative wear. If no leaks and compression iss good then 10-30 Mobile 1 if oil pressure is low or mor wear then 15-50 Mobil 1

I use Mobil 1 5W-30.

I use Mobil 1 5W30 also. Anyone use Royal Purple?

I use the the Castrol 20W50 blend for cars over 75,000 miles. My '88 just turned 157,000 miles and burns less than 1 qt. each 3000 miles between oil changes. I can live with that. It runs great and no leaks.

I just saw a thing on tv about Royal Purple

Supposedly it works great. It dyno'd +10hp out of a 500hp motor. Royal Purple also has a Dextron-type blend and a gearbox fluid as well.

Oh, I might mention that all fuids (engine, tranny, pumpkin) were swapped with RP in that engine.
