On a 93 my oil temp analog gauge is off. The digital reading is correct. I had this problem when I first got the car....took it to the dealer and told them to change the sensor which they said they did. I still have the same reading. I would like to change the thing myself over the winter months. Would anyone know where it's located about. Thanks!

The analog oil temp gauge is not a true linear gauge. As the needle moves up the scale, the values get closer together much like some aftermarket water temp guages will read. I never really look at the analog oil temp guage. When I take my 92 out for track days, I'll bring up the oil temp guage on the digital display and watch the analog water temp guage.

If the guage needle does not return to the edge of the marking on the gauge when you turn the ignition to "OFF", you can remove the needle and reinstall it on the pin, but it's a lot of work in that you have to remove the entire cluster and take it apart. The needles are small and can easily get ruined.

There is only one oil temp sending unit and it's above the oil filter. The signal goes to the CCM and from there to the digital display and the analog guage.

My 92 came with a sticker at the bottom right of the gauge cluster saying that "the analog gauges are not linear devices" and to see the owners manual. It's still there. I just use them as a quick reference to see if anything is really bad and I use the digital for more correct readings. Like c4cruiser, I use the digital to monitor oil temp on open road runs.

Basically, unless the analog isn't working at all, I wouldn't bother with it.

On my 92 the gauge tends to sway a little , but when I go to the digital the readout is constant.

Thanks guys...I think I'll just leave it alone. The digital reading is the one I use also.
