Old Topic - Oil Leak ?

I would imagine this has been diagnosed B4, but I did a search and cannot find where I saw someone mention the very same leak I have. It is a 96, Coupe, auto, oil leak at the passenger side rear near manifold, and drips directly onto my Catayltic converter? Any ideas, thanks and sorry for the repettvie question. :duh

Based on experience, I would say the intake is leaking down the back of the block.I used to do them under warranty all the time so its a common thing.Hope this helps,

The intake leak is a common problem on LT1's. This is the first place I'd look also.

I remember what you were talking about. I think you're referring to a post by "Chris". His handle is "69MyWay". He is from Orange Park, Florida. He had an oil leak problem that he had a hard time tracing down. I think he found it and fixed it.

oIL lEAK

Thanks Folks for the help. I had assumed that is was indeed the rear of the intake when I was inspecting the vette before i just recently purchased it, and wanted to see if it was a common occurence. Looks like it is. :eyerole

Tazdev.......... Fairly inexpensive I assume to have a dealer re-seal it? Thanks again.

About 500.00 labor, 27..00 for the oil change , intake gaskets are 22.00, sealer is 14.00, plus shop supplies so figure around 570.00 plus tax. Labor may be less or more depending on your local labor rate. This also includes labor time of one hour to degrease the engine .Antifreeze is shop supplies unless its DEX COOL then its per gallon.
