Ok guys, here the deal:
My dad got a very famous Vette (if you have the Car Craft 1975 November its on the front cover , anyways since i've (his son) have been doing all sorts of stuff to cars and anything else that has a engine he has decided to fix it up so that he can "hand it down" (I hope). The only thing it really needs is a new front bumper and a new paint job and it will be back. The car was basically free because everything that was put into it was given to us as long as we supported the company that made it when we went to shows and stuff. Its a 1968 chassis with 73,74,and 75 years parts on it. The original engine was replaced with a 327 about 4-5 years ago, but I believe that my dad is going to put a 350 in it. I'll post some pics of it a little bit later on.

My question for you guys is do you have any suggestions on anything we should try to get to make it look better? And how I should go about writing to different places to see if they would sponser the car.

Thanks Guys

Things have changed a lot from the late 60's early 70's. I don't know if you will be able to find a "sponsor or sponsors" to help offset the costs. There are a lot of people heavy into drag racing and SCCA, NCCC auto cross racing that can not find sponsors.. I would think it would be real hard to find sponsors to help finance your venture, of course I could be wrong..

Good Luck and Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride.

Cool car. Do you have any other photos?

Welcome to CAC.

As far as "updating" this ride to current standards, I would start with the suspension -check out Vette Brakes and Products, then move to the wheels/tires, top it off with fuel injection, and get rid of the woodgrain interior panels and replace with carbon fiber.

That would be one way to really push that car into the new millenium.

I just took those pics this morning. If you want to see more, just ask and i'll take more.

Thanks

Depending on how far you really want to take your restoration, I'd likely save the paint job as the last thing, especially if you plan on doing lots of under-the-hood work. Nothing fun about having a pricey paint job only to have it dinged or scratched from constantly being over the body or leaning on it.

I'd agree with 69MyWay. Suspension is a pretty big piece of comfort, although relatively expensive from what I've seen (couple grand).

If the 327 is still strong, and your dad is thinking of replacing it, I personally wouldn't replace it with anything less than a 383 or bigger.

After that, definitely clean up the interior. The wood grain looks a bit beat in the pics, as do most of the guages. Cleaning up the dash makes a big difference. The B&M shifter looks quite out of place, but then I'm a fan of the original interior design. My interior was pretty beat up, as was my steering wheel. Just replacing the steering wheel made a big difference in the way the interior looked.

Yea, the interior was one of the first things that I wanted to fix. New gauges are going in, shifter, steering wheel, ect.

We already have a new radio. The original sponser was Blapunkt (sp?) and we talked to them and they are going to send us a new one :D
